Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Yes, my doctor told me you can grow out of a childhood penicillin allergy, @Dimity .

Not having a great weekend as a) I haven't achieved anything today, and b) I'm worried that I might be coming down with a cold.

Going to try to tackle the kitchen sink and bench now.

Hope you are feeling OK...

I hope you can fend off the cold @NatureLover . And that you achieved what you wanted.

I'm feeling very flat. And getting very little done. Hopefully tomorrow will be better rather than worse.

Sorry you're feeling so flat, @Dimity . I do hope today is better not worse for you.

I didn't tackle the kitchen yesterday - will try again today.

I'm taking lots of Vit C in the hope of staving off the cold.

Hello @NatureLover fingers crossed re the vitamin C.

I hope you can push through with the kitchen. I'm still in a slump .I'm nearing the end of my official recovery period and maybe it's reaction to the long and difficult effort to get to this point.

It has been a long and difficult effort for you, @Dimity . 😥

I didn't achieve anything yesterday either (only the basics like laundry).

However I feel well enough to go to work today thankfully.

I hope you come out of your slump naturally soon 🤞

Hope the last couple of days were OK for you @NatureLover .I'm trying to push through but very tired. I was up earlier this morning and got a couple of loads of washing done and shopped this afternoon and got a haircut. I'm troubled by the ongoing clutter and continue to nibble at the edges. The family stuff is unravelling a bit, it's always a worry. I think I'm losing track of the hours and the days. I'm not sure how to turn things around.

Hi @Dimity , sorry to hear you're still so tired. Sounds like you got a bit done yesterday 👍 even if it wasn't decluttering.

By "family stuff unravelling", I assume you mean in a bad way? 😣

The last couple of days have been good but busy out, so nothing achieved on the house except laundry. Today I'm at home and hoping to achieve lots if I can.

Did you want to tidy with me today?

Hello @NatureLover yes thanks it would be nice to clean and tidy with you. I'll shower first then get started.

Great! Thanks @Dimity 🙂

I've finally done the washing up! It's been months. (I use and wash the same single plate, bowl and mug and cutlery over and over)

Now stopping for lunch - always a danger period, with getting started again. But I have you to motivate me!

Well done @NatureLover

I've done 1 1/2 hours, mainly keeping up with cleaning. I'd better shop for milk etc then will try for more decluttering later.

When I was working I never seemed able to keep up with washing up. Or any housework really.
