Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hugs @NatureLover . It's good It's not a full day at work but the extra takes a toll. I hope you find time to rest.

I usually set aside bins for myself but they're too heavy for me to look after at the moment. I've been having to remind people to put them all out for me - I usually do it for everyone.

I hadn't thought of meal delivery. I'm mulling a separate fruit/veg delivery for seasonal produce.

How have the dogs been lately?

Thanks for the hugs @Dimity

A fruit / veg delivery might be good except then you have to expend energy cooking it.

Yes, if I didn't have the dentist today I might've done a full shift at work. I really need to, I'm so behind in the paperwork. But an extra day usually overloads me, so I'm resisting.

I hope people have been returning the favour and putting your bins out consistently.

The aggressive dog is still away, thank goodness. I'm slowly adjusting to the well-behaved dog.

Hi again @Dimity , hope you're having a good day...

I managed to not go back to sleep this morning. Went to work briefly, went grocery shopping and to the library.

Then dentist which took 4 minutes and cost me $246!

Am very tired so I've put a laundry wash on and am lying down to rest.

Perhaps foolishly, I signed up to go to a Plant Swop at the library tomorrow - I don't need any more plants to water, plus I ought to be resting. Oh well, if it doesn't go well I'll know not to repeat it. I'm taking a Plectranthus (Swedish ivy) along to swop. It's exciting to think of what I might get in return, which is why I signed up.

Hope you and your garden are coping with the heat and humidity today.

Well done on the work groceries and library @NatureLover . The dental bill was a bit steep for 4 minutes! Did they actually fix the problem?

I've had a rest day today with a long nap. My psychiatrist says I can start reducing meds again. I'll get something to eat (I missed lunch) and try to do something useful despite a headache.

I hope your laundry dries well.

Good luck with the plant swap! I hope you get a nice surprise.

The dentist was just a clean and polish, @Dimity . Plus fluoride.

I'm glad you're having a rest day with a nap, especially as you haven't been sleeping well.

Thanks, I'll let you know what plant I get tomorrow!

I hope your headache goes away soon 🤞

Hi @Dimity , no need to reply to this if you're not coping 😥

I had fun at the plant swop! I took one plant and came away with 5: a geranium, 2 native violets, some orange bulbs and a succulent. I gave the succulent to my neighbour.

My tomatoes are nearly finished now so that will be less watering, to make up for the extra plants. Plus the native violets are tiny.

The ladies were lovely and each brought lots of plants. I only brought one! But someone did take it luckily.

I hope you're coping with the heat today and that we get rain tonight for our gardens.

Hoping things don't feel as dire as yesterday for you 🤞

I'm so glad you enjoyed the plant swap @NatureLover . I lost my native violets and would like more I wonder what the orange bulbs are?

We had a brief storm this afternoon, just before my grocery delivery. The deliveries are expensive so I'm trying to space them.

I've done some chores and will need to air the washing because of the rain. I'm doing better than yesterday.

I'm glad you were feeling a little better yesterday, @Dimity .

I forgot to write down the name of the orange bulbs, so I have no idea!

I hope I've planted my new native violets where they get enough light. I planted them on a patch of bare ground. Sorry you lost yours - was it in the recent heatwave when you were in hospital?

I'm glad you're getting your groceries delivered.

Work today...I really need to do an extra day to catch up, but I'm resisting it as long as possible, and staying back to work overtime instead each day. Still not catching up though. Trying not to be too stressed about that.

Hope today is another improvement in how you feel.

I may have done a foolish thing @Dimity , and agreed to an extra work day tomorrow. Time will tell! If I wake up feeling wiped out tomorrow morning I can always ring and cancel.

Hope your day tomorrow goes well...

That's a big undertaking @NatureLover . I hope it works out for you.

The cat's vomited, the toilets flooded but I've just got otc meds for my back so it's not all grim.
