Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @NatureLover Thanks for thinking of me. Your sandals are very pretty - quite delicate with the thin straps. Will you get a pedicure?

I hope you were successful in getting your errands done. I've been working at cleaning and tidying the laundry including a deep cupboard. The dentist yesterday was just a check and clean. I'll be due for X-rays next time.

My calendar is filling up with visits from council people to set up home help and preparations for my procedure. I feel I'm working hard to clean and tidy but as I try to deal with clutter it's like unpacking the Tardis or Colonel Pewter's bottomless holdall. So.Much.Stuff.

I need shopping but I'm not sure if I can manage it. I'm tossing up whether to get a delivery.

Take care. When is the wedding?

The wedding is this Thursday afternoon! @Dimity

Yes, the sandals are more delicate than I'd normally have chosen, but I was getting desperate after the more solid wedding shoes I ordered were too big. And the sandals met all my requirements and are comfy, so I'm pleased.

No, I've never had a pedicure in my life and won't start now. My dress is quite frothy so that will draw the eye rather than my unpainted toes I hope.

Well done on cleaning and tidying the laundry. You seem to be having good success tackling one small area at a time. I hope the results give you a good feeling.

I'm unfamiliar with Colonel Pewter's bottomless holdall. And the Tardis too I think, although I have at least heard of that.

I think you've earnt a grocery delivery with all the steady work you've been doing lately. 🙂

I hope you don't feel like you need to tidy up for the council people... I would think they'd need to see the extent of help needed?

I hope you have a lovely time Thursday @NatureLover and your father and his family behave so you don't have any stress.

Council is starting sooner than I'd expected, and I'll have to clear the floors as much as possible. The list of services seems based on a well-ordered household and is fairly limited. I'll try to muddle through as much as I can myself but it's a bit slow and painful.

Hi @Dimity , is your Council help starting before your surgery?

I see what you mean about the help seeming to be based on a well-ordered house.

Sorry it's so painful and slow, the work 😭

I didn't achieve much yesterday except my errands and laundry.

Thanks for asking me about a pedicure, as it reminded me that I have some silver nail polish! I will try that.

Thanks for your good wishes... I just hope I'm not seated next to my father at the reception.

Good luck today to both of us...

Hey @Dimity , I'm going to have a look at the TW option on the phone. Do you see the triangle? I have to press the three dots to expand the options first and then get the spoiler function.

Also, @NatureLover , glad to have been able to talk to you 🙂

Hello @tyme

With my phone in portrait I get 5 options, no dots. I've just discovered with my phone in landscape I get 10 options, again no dots. If I return my phone to portrait I get an additional option of text colour, still no dots. Each time there's an additional leftward arrow preceding the options that doesn't seem to do anything. I can't take screenshots on this phone unfortunately. In no case is there the triangle visible.

Best wishes for today @NatureLover . You'll be glamorous silver from top to toe.

I wrote a longer message but lost it. I'm too tired to write it again. So I'll update you another time.

That's so frustrating, to lose a long message! @Dimity Thank you anyway.

I managed to find my small silver handbag, although I had to look through boxes in the shed for it. But I can't find the wedding card I bought, so will have to pop out this morning for one. Also need to trim my hair (I always cut it myself) and do the silver nail polish.

I'm not generally good with big events but I'm trying to be positive. At least this wedding is not far away, only about 20 minutes.

Thanks for your good wishes. I hope you do have the energy to update me.

Good luck with your tasks today.

Hi my friend, how was your day? @Dimity

Just got home from the wedding. Took my sleeping tablet but it'll take 2 hours to kick in, so I thought I'd write to you.

The wedding went well for me, and very well for the couple. It really shook me out of my narrow little world. You get really absorbed in the life of the couple getting married, at weddings.

I wasn't seated next to my abusive father thankfully and I even made a bit of conversation with him. I was also able to (mostly) avoid 2 other people who I wanted to avoid.

I'm thankful I was able to cope with the big event (I'm not usually good with big events).

I hope your day was good and you weren't too sore, and were able to get done some things that you wanted.

Hello @NatureLover I hope the big occasion went well and you enjoyed it. I trust you came through unscathed despite your phobias and fears. It would be a colossal achievement.

I've been working consistently on the house and garden for over a fortnight now. I'm still averaging only 3 hours a day actually working so I need to do more. It's mostly in 25-30 minute stints with long breaks in between. I can't see many differences but I know the effort isn't wasted, it's just that the baseline is shifting. The green bins and shredding and cleaning are proof, and I have the boxes of old household chemicals. The visible difference is clearer surfaces. But as the saying goes, Nature abhors a vacuum and some things have come out of overfull cupboards. It's a work in progress.

I have a Council occupational health and safety check tomorrow and I hope they find nothing untoward. Big hope.
