Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

At least you're keeping up with laundry @NatureLover which would probably be important to you. The rest of the "mess" you might have to triage - eg liveability vs easy access vs the inspection a fortnight away. I'm behind too, and struggling, and know how hard it can be.

Fingers crossed tomorrow will be better.

You're right @Dimity , laundry is very important to me 🙂 I managed to do an hour's mending yesterday and for the first time in my adult life I have no mending pile - it's all finished. However this did involve giving up on 2 pairs of shorts and putting them in the opp shop box.

I also managed 2.5 hours' tidying. So yesterday was a much better day. I'm going to try and go out and do 6 errands today in preparation for going back to work on Thursday hopefully.

You've got such a good memory. The rental inspection is due 16 Feb but I'm aiming to be ready 2 weeks early as sometimes they schedule it early, so you're correct. I'll have to get a move on.

When you say you're behind, do you mean behind on the time frame you set yourself every day? Or behind on a tidying goal(s)?

I'm sorry you're struggling. I hope you can come good. I'm sending wishes for that to happen... 🤞 as well as hugs 💚

Morning @NatureLover hoping your work day goes well. I’m sorry if I’ve upset or offended you in some way 😞

(Speaking gently) You deserve an honest response, dear @Bow ...

I feel I have no words left for you. I understand you're suffering greatly, and I have so much empathy for anyone who suffers SI. But I've spent every day for about 2 years pouring out my full support for you, and you refuse to do the work of unpacking your trauma in therapy to help yourself and get feeling better. So I have to step back to protect myself...I'm sorry 😢

Wow that’s very judgemental and extremely harsh @NatureLover especially when you only see snippets. That really hurt.
goodbye

Hello @NatureLover I trust you are well?

It sounds as though you accomplished a lot on Tuesday. Are you OK?

Thank you, @Dimity ❤️

Not sure what to say. I've hurt someone and I feel terrible. I'm worried about them.

Are you feeling a little less low now? I really hope so...🤞 I've been sending wishes for you.

Do you have tasks for this weekend? How are your pain levels at the moment, with your exercises?

Take care 💚

Perhaps there's always some risk in setting boundaries @NatureLover .

I've struggled this week. Trauma therapy is hard. And I've been very sore and only exercised every second day. I'm in survival mode so today's tasks were limited - clean/shop/cook/exercise - but that's more than I've managed for a few days. I saw a cardiologist but I'm not fit enough for his preferred test. He said however it's unlikely anything's wrong. I'm very tired.

I hope you've been up to tackling the inspection preparations.

I can't see my way forward at the moment. Perhaps I should try for another helper.

I think that for survival mode, this is a lot that you've achieved. Well done.

Do you feel OK about the cardiologist saying he thought everything was fine?

No...I've been derailed by all the big upsets lately 😢 I'm not doing well.

Good luck thinking about whether to get another helper or not. It would be a hard decision as it involves precious money that you have to ration out.

Sending wishes for your tiredness, physical pain, & emotional pain... 💚
