Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hi @Dimity , glad your ankle has eased and is allowing you to walk.

Filling 2 green bins is a lot of work! Well done.

I think it's very hard to achieve anything at all with depression. So I think that 1 out of 5 is actually fine and shows you haven't given up.

I didn't go to the bakery but had a lovely day at home instead. I'll pop into the bakery before work. Plus the library. Am still feeling good despite waking up really late this morning.

I hope the 3 celebrations you have on this week go well...better than you're expecting. Especially if there's a family one. Sending hugs 💚

Thanks @NatureLover . Hugs returned...

I had a friend text me today to say she was dropping in. So I welcomed her into my cluttered livingroom and forgot to offer her a cuppa although I'd carefully boiled the kettle in advance... I'm ashamed. And I burdened her with the tale of my year. But she's a kind, good person.

I walked very late this evening, just on sunset. The evenings will start drawing in again now, although it will get hotter.

You're sounding more cheerful, which is good. I hope you enjoy your party, if you go/went.

I am feeling like this right now PMDD & Loneliness, she encapsulates exactly what I go through, I think this is why I struggle to get things done. I can only do as much as my mind can let me.

@scruffypuffball I was diagnosed 20 years ago with ADHD. Hormones matter a whole lot.

Dear @Dimity , that's so lovely your friend dropped around and you were willing to let her in your house 🙂 And if she's a kind and good person she won't have minded you forgetting the coffee, or your sharing. She would have dropped around in order to see how you were doing. So I hope you won't feel too bad.

You reminded me that we have now had the summer solstice...already!

You have an amazing memory 🙂 Yes, am planning to attend the department Christmas party tonight. It will be outside on a lawn. Am still feeling more cheerful, thankfully. The sunshine really helps. Today I need to go out and do errands, and also lots of watering.

I'm a bit all over the place in terms of waking up in the morning. I prefer to wake up at 4.45 and get up at 5, but yesterday I woke up at 7.40 and had to rush before work! So I've decided to set an alarm for 6 every morning, in case I sleep in.

I don't do Christmas these days so am volunteering at work on Christmas Eve and then volunteering here on Christmas Day in case anyone's distressed. Last year no-one was distressed on Christmas Day, although I didn't do the evening, I stopped around tea-time.

I hope today goes well for you 🙂 💚

Wow you're a real earlybird @NatureLover . It's wonderful you're giving your time at Christmas, I admire and respect your contribution. I hope tonight is fun.

I'm puddling along but the next few days will be busy. I didn't get as much done today as I should have so I'll be up early (for me) tomorrow. I'll try to remember to water, too.

Best wishes - I hope you enjoy the weekend.

Hi @Dimity ...I forgot to mention I go to sleep very early, often at 8pm, sometimes even 7.30pm in winter.

This morning I woke up at 9.30am. But it was a late night last night at the party. Very nice out on the lawn in the sunshine, but cold later.

This morning is gorgeous outside. I guess you have a lot to water in your lush garden.

I hope your social events this week /weekend go well...

Hello @NatureLover yes it was a lovely day to be outside.

Your schedule would be great for making the most of the daylight hours.

Today's event was nice but draining. A bit fraught really. I'll have an early night and try not to worry about it. I couldn't manage my usual walk and physio.

Chores tomorrow, and wrapping gifts.

Hope your day goes well.

Sorry to hear, @Dimity . Hoping that today is better.

I am still feeling more cheerful, I'm sure due to the sunshine. Looking forward to work today. I always volunteer on Cmas Eve. Then tomorrow at home.

I also feel good as I've sorted my 41 library loans into priority order! Hehe.

Are you seeing family on Cmas Day?

Good luck with your chores today.
