Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hey @NatureLover just dropping by with some love and hugs for you today. Also wondering how your 1 hour of cleaning/tidying is going?
You said you have a friend coming to help… when does that start?

Thank you heaps also for asking about this...I haven't been doing it 😞 The thing is that after doing my 1 hour of watering the garden in the morning plus my 1 hour of regular daily tidying, I'm exhausted. Plus I've been struggling with depression (for no reason that I can see, apart from the state of the house maybe). But please keep asking me abiout this...I think that if I can make it a habit, I will keep on top of the house much better in the long term...

That starts this Friday...we were going to clean out all my junk in the shed (about 30 boxes), but now I think we will have to work on the house, as I have a rental inspection due at the end of January 😮

I really appreciate and value you checking in with me, thank you ❤️

Hello @NatureLover @Bow @Shaz51

Having someone help can be a real boost. I've made progress since having someone come for a couple of hours a week. And family helped me with the garden and taking some junk to the tip over Christmas. Like you I'm trying to do an hour a day but it's not always easy to anticipate what to do or where to start. On a bad day if I can handle/process 8 items it's a win.

Wow, @Dimity ! On a bad day you can still process 8 items? That's amazing!

Hey @NatureLover I’m so sorry things are so challenging for you at the moment and that your depression is worse cause of the state of your house. I really wish I could come and help!

How has the cleaning gone the last couple of days?

can I ask about your garden? What kind of plants do you have? I have a lot of plants, but I’m not always good at watering them, I forget, but am trying to make more of an effort this year as I’ve spent a lot of money on my plants. I have a really nice outdoor area with a swing chair, I use to spend a lot of time out there but no so much anymore.

Thanks for your sweet message, dear @Bow ❤️

On Sunday I actually did 2.5 hours of gardening! The garden needed to be tidied and weeded before the inspection, but actually I was avoiding the housework 😞 so that part was not good.

The garden here is really beautiful, a big bush garden. There are roses and large tree ferns too. Lots to water, front and back, but I love the garden and the trees. I feel so lucky to live here - the garden nourishes my soul immensely. I'd rather be outside in it than inside.

How come you don't sit outside much any more?

Today I'm determined to do my 1 hour of 'extra' work on the mess inside. I hope I have the energy!

Sending you 💜 and thanks for checking in on me ❤️
