Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Well bring on Tuesday then @NatureLover 😄🌿🌷☀💖

My sleep these past couple of weeks has been very poor, likely coinciding with an exacerbation of pain. More wishes needed. 😔🍀💞

Thank you @NatureLover . I probably cannot just blame pain for adversely affecting my sleep. I have also commenced a new course of EMDR therapy. All of the preparation work has commenced, which involves a lot of what they call 'mapping' work. It brings up a lot of old memories and I have trouble clearing them all from my head afterwards. The old brain works overtime, churning through everything again and again.

Are you doing anything for the long weekend? We have lovely bright blue skies here, heaps of sunshine, though quite cold. Nights are cold. The sort of weather that its warmer outside than it is inside once the sun is out. I do wish I could beam some of this sunshine down to you.

Hi @Bow @Shaz51 @Snowie @Former-Member @Anastasia

Hi @Emelia8 , I've just replied to your news on your thread...as I said over there, well done for doing the 'mapping' work - incredibly difficult, but necessary for some healing. We are all supporting you as you go through it...

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

I was notified yesterday just as I was leaving for my volunteer job that this morning an "Electrical Safety Check" would be happening between 9am-11am. I know this has to happen (I'm a tenant), but I had less then 24 hours' notice to clean up! I had to cancel my volunteer job for the day and I managed to clean and tidy...it's not finished yet but I've just got up (it's 6.50am here) and am having a coffee before starting again.

I'm very anxious as the man will be touching everything, triggering bad germophobia for me...he needs access to the power points, and my tiny unit is so cluttered that he won't be able to access them all. Along one wall of the lounge-room I have 6 tall shelves crammed with stuff. Impossible to move. He will also have to move furniture to access all the other power points in the house. I am hoping he will let me move the furniture myself.

Apparently the electrical check takes an hour! 😮

Also, the guy on the phone said that if they can't access all the power points, they will have to come back another day to do something else, he wasn't sure what. Which would be billed to the landlord. I dread making any trouble for the landlord, as the housing crisis is so bad here that he could get rid of me and get another tenant the next day, and I would probably be homeless. 😞

I am just hoping that I am not evicted from all of this, and can cope with the massive germophobia attack of him touching everything in my house, which will take months to disinfect and make me feel my house is unsafe 😞
