Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Hello dear @NatureLover

Are you ok?

I have noticed that you have been here less, I hope it's because you are busy enjoying life. I recall the dreaded sad is still there somewhat, I am also aware your brother has left and maybe you're feeling emotions around that? I'm here to listen if you want to share?

Thank you for your message on Trying to stay sane x I appreciate you very much and your wishes.

I have my work Christmas party tonight, I am not looking forward to putting on a mask and pretending my life is fabulous. I'll be careful with the amount I drink to keep in check.

Sending you love, coffee, sun and all that you need ☀️💚☕🥗🍓🍇

Hi dear @Anastasia , thanks for your message...how was the work Cmas party? That seems very early...does that mean your workplace takes an extended Cmas break?

Yes, I'm OK thanks...although my hands are bad and I've been flat. My hands were going well but then I ruined it the last 3 days. Had my monthly psychologist appt yesterday, it went well although I was quite down. Today I want to go back to bed already...however there's due to be some sun later, so that's hopeful.

I'm OK with my brother going back to NSW, thanks for thinking of that.

How was your first session with your new counsellor?

Do you have any plans for this weekend?

It's kind of you to write when you're so depleted, thank you

Sending much 💚 and wishes.

Hello dear @NatureLover

Work party was good. Thank you for asking. It was nice to catch up with some. I overdid it a bit on the drinks so felt very dusty yesterday.

I am sorry to hear you're flat and your hands are bad 😔 it's a setback, that's all. Be gentle with yourself. (Just quietly my left hand is pretty bad ATM. Having to use prescription cream to see if that helps. My nails, eek they are shocking. Embarrassing)

We are like two peas 💚

It's hard when all we want to do is spend the day/s in bed. I really hope that the sun came and you were able to get out in it.

First session was great, it flew tho but i think she will be a huge help. Shame about the expense after the next one I will have to wait until next pay but that's ok it's at least happening.

I'm seeing my boy today. Very mixed feelings. It is very wet here so not much we can do, it might be just a catch up at the hospital in his room. No visitors are allowed in common areas.

Yesterday we picked up Dad's car to sell. My boyfriend will lol after that as he's sold a few vehicles and dealt with the people. So that's kind. Bit sad for Dad. It was a second car so they still have their main car which Mum mostly drives now.

Can't think of anything else...

Always have you in my thoughts, I miss our daily catch ups. Please speak kindly to yourself my precious friend. Love and light 💚💛☀️🥗🍓✔️🍇☕🌳

Thanks for your update @Anastasia 🙂 I'm glad the Cmas work party wasn't horrible.

Oh dear, your left hand 😞 And your nails...do you bite them?

Thanks for your encouraging words.

The sun didn't eventuate yesterday so achieved nothing and kind of knocked myself out with books. But it's sunny today. Went back to bed this morning at 7.30 and napped. Now off to supermarket before a walk. Prefer going to supermarket much earlier in the morning, oh well. Hope it won't be too crowded.

Am so pleased to hear! Not about the expense, but that she'll be a help. Yay 🙂

Why are no visitors allowed in common areas of the ward, I wonder? I hope the visit to your boy goes well...crossing fingers.

Thanks for the fruit, trees, salad (had to enlarge to see what it was lol), sun, coffee and

Sending you lots of 💚🌷🌞🥐

Oh @Anastasia , I'm sorry to hear - it sounds painful 😞

How was your visit with your boy?

I'm so disappointed - I'm still depressed. I knocked myself out again with books yesterday. They're like a drug to me - complete escapism. No fruit or veggies or water drunk all weekend. The SAD has taken 3 weeks longer than usual this year so far...my psychologist says it's the constant rainy weather. I've been trying to keep positive and just keep patiently waiting, but I've had enough. I'm even off my food, and I'm a huge foodie. Got to try and drag myself into work today if possible...I'll see how I'm coping after breakfast. If I can force some breakfast down even! 😞 Not wanting breakfast (which is my favourite meal) is a sign I'm not doing well.

I'm down to my last library book so I need to go to the library and get more drugs of addiction. Yes, it's an addiction, knocking myself out with books.

Sorry to offload all this - I'm already feeling guilty, as I know you're overloaded. But if I can't express it on a mental health forum, then I'm a bit stuffed. I just saw my psychologist last Friday so not due to see her for another month. Just got to get through.

And I can't even tempt anyone with some of my rarer disorders to stay and chat to me on this thread! Another failure.

I thought it was interesting you sent me a picture (icon) of salad - maybe you knew what I needed. It's only just struck me now though.

Any news on when your boy might be coming home from the hospital?

I hope today is better for you @NatureLover and there is some sunshine 🌞

Thank you for all your sweet messages. I do appreciate you very much.

Right now I am trying to convince myself to get out of bed and into the shower so I can face another week.

Lots of love 💚💛💚💛🤸‍♂️🧜‍♀️🤸‍♂️💛💚💛💚

My visit was ok, disapointed to see him as elevated but hopefully just the environment and he will "come down" when he's home...I believe he will be discahrged on the 29th.

Anyway I am so sorry to learn of your situation @NatureLover I really am. Yes, the weather has been horrid and I am not surprised it has you feeling the way that you are. Oh gosh, I understand the escapism and books are a healthy choice but the not eating and drinking NL has me concerned. It sounds like you are aware that this isn't good and I am super proud of you for reaching out to us here.

I am aware of your love for food hence the emoji's however it was a "fluke" that I chose to send them, perhaps it is the Universe intervening?

Do you think having an App to remind you to drink and eat would be helpful? My boy has an app for water and medication reminders, it really helps him as he tends to forget otherwise...food for thought? Pardon the pun my precious friend 🙂

I wonder if you made it to work today? If you did, then you really are incredible and you should really give yourself a huuuuuge pat on the back for geting there. If you didn't that's ok too, I commend you for listening to your needs. x

Please don't apologise for offloading, that is what friends are for, the give and take. I am here for you.
