Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

We aren't allowed to sit down anywhere outside of our own property at present NL.

We do have a filled in pool out the back with grass covering it. The drainage is non existent and it's mostly clover and dirt. The dog loves it! Not suitable to sit on.

The property is high, so it's private and has garden beds galore surrounding it to the fences. Lots to maintain.

There's no front yard. Just garden beds, veranda and massive driveway culdesaccy thing to park say 5 cars. A concrete paradise. I guess that's why I try to keep garden bed nice to give me something to appreciate 😌

In fact I intend on creating a planter box area today... probably should get cracking @NatureLover

Thanks for describing your property @Anastasia , it's nice to picture where you live. I see what you mean about the concrete paradise. You said you can sit on the verandah...does the verandah get any sunshine?

I hadn't realised you can't sit in a park...also that your radius limit is now 5k (which I read yesterday). It sounds like our hard lockdown last year 😞

Did you get around to making the planter box? What living green things did you plant? 🎋🌻🌿🌷 I confess I like all living green things, including weeds. I especially like it when a brave plant or tree grows in an impossible place...we have some small trees growing out of a low rock wall! I've left them to grow.

I had a slow day yesterday...I'm having heel and arch pain, I think it might be plantar fasciitis...I had it last year and did nothing and hoped it would go away, which it did! This strategy was so successful that I'm trying it again. 😄

Hoping you have a relaxing day today including in your mind, if possible. 💚

Edited to add: So sorry your boy will miss his 21st in lockdown 😞

Hello @NatureLover

Thank you for your message 💚

I didn't do my planter box but I ordered what I need and prepped to do next weekend. I'm very excited. It will transform the veranda and provide a nice sitting area which is needed during lockdown to give us another option to retreat to.

I have Jade plants galore that are all flowering at present, some of which are taller than me so I will take pieces and repot into the new planter box. It should look lovely.

I love that you're allowing the little trees to grow. Mother Nature is incredibly resilient.

Do you talk to your plants? I talk to my indoor ones lol. I must admit I haven't lately. I must today, just say hi if nothing else ☺️

Oh I am so sorry to hear of your heal and arch pain!!! Ouch! It's wonderful it disappeared last time, I'm hoping too the same will happen for you this time round. I wonder if the colder weather has some impact?

Speaking of which, did the sun come out to play? I hope so 🙏🌄💛☀️🙏

Thank you for your sentiments around my boys birthday. He's been so gracious around his holiday and probably now his birthday having to be postponed. Not so much as a woe is me. Such a wonderful human 💙

I think Covid has brought the best and worst out in humanity.

I hope your family here are coping and staying well NL.

I just want to add that you reminded me of my comment around not remembering the last time I felt happy. I feel happy today after a really lovely weekend in the garden and with the boys. Thank you for reminding me to take notice of such an important feeling.

Take care dear NL and I wish for more.sun for you to keep the SAD at bay.

Love always 🌄☀️🌄☀️🌄☀️🌄

Thanks for your long and newsy reply, dear @Anastasia ! Am so impressed with your boy's attitude to missing out on significant celebrations.

Am also delighted to hear that you felt happy yesterday!! Yay!

I like thinking of you with the vibrant green growing living planter box, sitting on the verandah. 🙂 I talk to my plants occasionally, and the trees around here (I love trees).

Not sure if the cold weather has an effect on the heel and arch pain. It's slightly better today, which is good for work today. Still limping but haven't taken any painkillers. The sun was a bit disappointing over the weekend, just Saturday morning and then patchy yesterday with lots of cloud. But still better than nothing, and certainly glorious to be out in. 🙂

Thanks for thinking of my family in NSW, they are coping well mostly I think, at least, my mum is finding it tough I think but refuses to say so! Sadly I suspect you are in for a long lockdown up there, like ours last year 😞 I am sending a lot of wishes regarding that, for coping and strength and endurance and distraction... You are right about the best and worst of humanity.

I achieved next to nothing on the weekend - oops. The house is in a muddle. I have an inspection coming up (no date yet) so I haven't done myself any favours! Need to get my act together. I tried to tackle the housework on the weeknd but couldn't face it (I think cos of the SAD). Need to push through.

Am hoping that you really enjoy starting your course tomorrow! And that your work this week has a minimum of stress and drama. Sending 💚

Hello @NatureLover

Just dropping by with some sunshine for you today and hoping the sad goes away soon. I’m sorry you feel this way and living in Vic wouldn’t always help so I thought I’d pack up some Qld sunshine 🌞 and send it to you.

I’m about to do some gardening in my lunch break as I’m working from home today.

Lots of love

💚🤗💛🦋🌼🌸🌞☀️🌽🤸🏽‍♀️

@Eve7 , you're so lovely! How did you know that I needed some Queensland sunshine today? And your beautiful care too Thank you heaps. I'm struggling today and it's a huge effort to do anything, even just getting dressed took a lot of effort. I'm moving at snail's pace and have gone to lie down several times, am lying down now.

Thank you for the thoughtful emoticons too, I laughed at the last one 😄

I hope your work from home is going well today. Gardening in the sunshine sounds lovely (as long as it's not weeding lol)

Much 💛 for your kindness.
