Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Popping back to double post @Anastasia just to say how amazing I think you are...I see you posted last night all around the forums supporting people and giving them your all...after such an alarming and upsetting day for yourself that you had. You are truly one special lady...your boys (and us) are lucky to have you in our lives. 💚

Oh no! I hate that, when you lose a long message to someone! Thank you though for writing me a newsy post, that warms my heart @Anastasia

And thank you, dear lady for your ongoing gift with pictures of sun, birthday cake, hearts and nature All so thoughful of course. 🙂

I haven't yet caught up with any news from you this morning, but I wanted to ask your help in trying to understand something... you and others write about "pdocs", and I always thought it was just a shorthand for a regular psychiatrist or psychologist. But now I'm thinking it means a psychologist or psychiatrist who specifically works in hospitals with inpatients. In other words, not the patient's regular psychiatrist or psychologist. Is that the case? (I haven't been in hospital so I don't know)

People's "pdocs" seem to have a lot of power to make a hospital stay either good or bad 😞

Thanks for your help 🙂

Can't seem to find any news from you on the forums @Anastasia - this is good (I hope) as it might mean things are going along OK...well, manageable I hope.

Hoping your workday goes well and your boy is coping.

Hello this my thoughts @NatureLover

Pdoc = psychiatrist (hospital affiliated or not)

Tdoc = psychologist

I'm sorry you had to look for an update, you're correct there isn't one.

I haven't updated as I really don't know what to say. I can't remember thelast time I felt happy. I guess I focus in here on supporting others and saying hi which takes my mind and focus of my own thoughts. Does that make sense?

Guess I'll update if my situation changes

Thanks, @Anastasia ! I have never heard of Tdoc before. Does it stand for ThoughtsDoc I wonder?

I see you're considering a TAFE course....good luck...

I don't mind looking all over the forums for your news lol...and you know why? Cos I get to see all your amazing support for others all over the forums. I love looking for good things in others, and you abound with it. 🙂

I'm just so sorry that you can't remember the last time you felt happy. 😞

Thank you for the flowers, sun, gifts and coffee. Sending them back to you along with much 💚

Thanks for remembering my ranty (but nice) neighbour, dear @Anastasia ! I reached out to her today as I know she hates lockdown and struggles with it, but she didn't want to talk. I was a bit relieved actually.

I am OK with the lockdown, nothing to be concerned about.

I'm struggling with some fears today and haven't achieved much. I've been avoiding them, which never works!! 😄 I need to have a long meditation session on them to process and deal with them I think. Might not happen tonight as evenings and nights aren't my good time...tomorrow sounds good though. There are also 2 sunny days in the 7-day forecast, which I'm excited about. 🙂

Thinking of you in lockdown and especially your son.

Much 💚.
