Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

@Anastasia Thanks for the beautiful flowers and thoughts 🙂 My week went OK thanks, very busy. Got a new manager starting on Monday so am a bit nervous. She will be training up for a few weeks under the current manager, who is retiring, unfortunately.

Hope that you can relax this weekend and have some time to yourself...keeping fingers crossed for it. 💚

Oh gosh I can totally understand why you would be anxious. Praying they bring about all the right qualities needed for the role and only good changes @NatureLover

Very wet here so I think relaxing and some chores is all I'll manage. Good luck next week, please let me know how you go? Xox

I hope the rain meant you did get some relaxing done yesterday, and today too...
Sending much 💚

Good morning @NatureLover 😊💕

I hope you are enjoying a nice weekend?

I'm flooded in here on the NSW mid north coast. And still the rain is falling. Soooo much rain, so much water. Its getting scary. Cant even get to my local town where I do my grocery shopping, see my GP, my vet, etc. At this stage it looks like I cant get to my oncologist apt tomorrow, which is an hours drive north of here. The highway is cut due to floodwaters both to our south and north. We are essentially in a big isolated island. Major flooding ... the worst since 1978 they are saying. Really want this rain to stop now. I love rain ... but not this much.

It must be a bit disconcerting @NatureLover having a new manager coming in at your work. If I recall correctly, you got along well with the manager who is now retiring. Perhaps the CEOs wife has been so nice lately because she knew there was going to be a new manager coming on board? I hope things settle down well with the upcoming staffing change and that the new manager is lovely and supportive.

Wishing you a good day sweetie. Hi also to @Anastasia @Bellarose75 @Eve7 @WIP etc 💓 Keep safe everyone, I realise that Sydney has been hit with a deluge of rain yesterday and again today, and even a mini tornado yesterday. In fact I can see that the rain event continues to be right along the East Coast ... so lots of people will be impacted by this weather event.

Emelia 😊

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Thanks so much for your chatty post, @Emelia8 I had been getting a little worried as you haven't been talking to me lately or answering my questions about how you are. But I told myself you had just been quiet lately...so am happy to have your post to me 🙂

I'm sorry to hear you've been flooded! And are cut off from your town! 😮 What about food supplies? Do you have enough? What is the weather forecast there for this week - is the rain due to stop? And missing your oncology appt tomorrow - that's not good. 😞 I hope you will be OK...

I had a good day yesterday with lunch with friends and 2 hours of good housework (much needed) in the morning. You remember well that I adore my current manager, who has 'protected' me with my mental health for the last 12 years. It will be a blow when she leaves in 5 weeks' time. But I'm trying to remain positive, although I'm scratching a lot (it's an anxiety-type thing called Excoriation Disorder). Maybe the CEO's wife has indeed been doing what you said - I hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense. Thanks for your good wishes

I really hope the rain there stops very soon...sending lots of 💜

Good morning @NatureLover

it sounds like you were busy yesterday with housecleaning etc so I hope you can relax today.

Oh dear @Emelia8 sorry you are isolated in your home after all the rain and I hope you have enough food and other supplies on hand.

Everything is looking very green here and very Irish!!

Take care my lovely friends.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Sorry @NatureLover if I had worried you, it was not intentional. And I most definitely was not deliberately not talking to you or answering your questions. I have been quiet these past 4 or 5 days. But I have been tagging you into my upates on my thread, when I do them.

I have enough food supplies, all good there. But obviously I'm hoping we are not cut off for too much longer. Weather forecast for the next few days is ... yep, you guessed it ... more rain! At this stage Wednesday is looking like being fine, so fingers crossed thats the case. But for the past 5 days for the 24hrs to 9am each day, we have had .... 20mm, 110mm, 149mm, 130mm .. and since 9am this morning we have alreadyhad another 100mms. So thats 509mms in only 4.5 days. On the old scale of measurement .. thats over 20 inches. No wonder our wider area is completely inundated by floodwater.

I'm so pleased to hear that you had a good day yesterday with friends, and also got some housework done. Well done you! I'm sorry your manager is retiring, and my hope is that the new manager will be equally as good and just as supportive. I'm sorry to hear that your excoriation is raising its head as a result of your anxiety. It is a bit like OCD is my understanding. I have OCD, as you may recall, and I have a form of excoriation associated with my OCD. I bite and gnaw on my lips until I do damage ... and I dont even notice I'm doing it until the damage is done. It is very much an anxiety thing.

I have a bit of an update on my appointments this week, but will write about that on my thread, where I can tag others as well as you.

Talk soon.

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Thanks for reassuring me, @Emelia8 ...and thanks for the tags. I know you don't want to repeat everything on my thread, of course not, I wouldn't ask that at all.

Bit horrified by your rainfall totals!...I really hope that Wednesday is fine. Glad you have enough food, but being cut off from the town must feel very worrying. 😞

Yes, I remember you have OCD and a form of excoriation. 😞

I'm running late as I woke feeling sick this morning (stomach). I went back to bed and slept a bit...am hoping I'll be OK for the first day of the new manager. Thanks for your good wishes. Sending 💜
