Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

Hi, I have just joined. I have a few mental illnesses, but am especially interested in hearing if there are any diagnosed germophobes or people with hoarding disorder on these forums?

I don't know any germophobes in real life, and would be interested to know how any of you pre-Corona germophobes are doing. Can you find enough sanitiser? If not, what are you using instead? Has your germophobia gone sky-high in this pandemic? Do you find it less or more lonely now that nearly everyone is a self-confessed germophobe?

My germophobia is quite bad - I can't have anyone in my house, and need lots of sanitiser when I go out. E.g. I use it after leaving my house and before I get in the car; again before I touch the steering wheel, again after touching my purse, again before putting my seat belt on, etc. I am struggling to find enough sanitiser. If I run out, I was thinking about diluting some disinfectant and putting it into an old water bottle to take out with me. I had one really bad panic lasting 3 days that was debilitating, due to COVID-19, but after that thankfully my germophobia came back down to normal levels. I guess normal levels are not that great but at least I am used to them!

I am strangely finding it more lonely as a diagnosed germophobe now, and would really like to meet some other germophobes online and hear how you're going. At least I had a friend tell me that I was in a stronger position than him, during this health crisis, as he had trouble remembering to wash his hands, whereas I wash them a hundred times a day already!

Re: Any diagnosed germophobes or hoarders on this forum?

I usually do have a few ☕️☕️ before 5 am, @NatureLover , it’s a go slow, even though I’ve been up ( kind of) since 3 am.

I was out planting a zucchini plant and watered at 5am. 😂😂😂 No one else around at that hour.

Oh no, mozzies. I hate that itch. Tea tree oil helps me. I’m glad you are out enjoying it anyway.

Yes, things are rough for me. I’ve been stuck in this dark place for what feels like forever now. I get a tiny bit of light and get excited, but it doesn’t last. Everything is feeling overwhelming, even the news. I cried watching those poor Americans yesterday. I’m not sure why, but some little things make sense.

Thanks for your interest. I feel so guilty talking about me. It’s my past and the ingrained brainwashing stuff I think.

Take care. 💜💜💜

I thought you might have coffees in the early hours of the morning, @Maggie ...the dark hours are lonely and coffee is comforting, even though I know you have your furbaby.

Out planting and watering at 5am sounds really gorgeous. I'm surprised there's any more room in your veggie garden which is full of pumpkins, lol. 😄

I've just come in from over an hour of vigorous gardening. Pruning and weeding. I figure it's best to do the gardening when I have the urge. 🙂 I filled one of the large green garden bins. There's more prunings in the back garden waiting till tomorrow, but I'm hot and tired now. Before that was watering. More of that to do tomorrow too...it's a large, beautiful, messy bush garden (shared around 5 units). It's the flowers and ferns that need the watering. Plus the native trees and bushes that I planted along the driveway.

I also fill 4 bowls of water for the birds and wildlife. I know standing bowls of water encourage mozzies to breed...but I think it's more important for the wildlife to have water. They can empty them all on a hot day. The birds bathe in them and send water everywhere...3 of the bowls are big enough for bird bathing.

Do you put the tea tree oil on the itch? Does it take the itch away? Or does the tea tree oil put off the mozzies in the first place?

Thanks for being honest with me. I value that. I'm just so sorry that you're in a dark place, and for such a long time. 😞 I hope those specks of light become longer and more frequent, and eventually join up into one long bit of light. I'm glad your counsellor is back now too.

And yes, the news is overwhelming. I hope you can feel a bit stronger soon...

I like hearing how you really are, even if it's not good. Then I can worry appropriately 🙂 and send relevant wishes out to the universe /God?. I think you put everyone else first. Thanks for overcoming the guilty feeling today.

Sending you many gentle hugs, and lots of 💜 and care.

@NatureLover That’s a lot of pruning. Things really take off in the heat. I hope you are enjoying being outside.

Yes, the tea tree oil takes the itch away. It’s a really handy thing to have in you cupboard, a good antiseptic.

Please don’t worry about me @NatureLover . Get yourself strong.

Things are heating up down this way. 29 expected today, 30 tomorrow, so it will be early watering. I have 3 bowls of water out for the birds also. It’s lovely watching them cool down.

I hope today is good to you. Leaving 💜💜 and☕️☕️

I didn't actually mean 'worry'...I put a smiley face, to make it tongue in cheek, but didn't make myself clear. It's more that I appreciate knowing how you're really doing.

I ended up doing 3 hours of gardening and watering yesterday. I enjoyed it, but am limiting myself to 10 minutes' watering this morning, so I can hopefully focus on tidying the house. I would prefer to be outside though, until it gets really hot.

If I can do 3 hours in the garden, why is it so hard to do 3 hours' work on the house?

Does the chemist or the supermarket sell the tea tree oil?

That's hot for you, those temperatures... I hope you go OK.

Sending gentle hugs and much 💜

@NatureLover I can never achieve having inside and outside clean and tidy both at the same time. It’s usually one or the other, or half and half, or nothing at all. 😂😂

Chemist warehouse has tea tree oil. I think they are the better price, but not sure. I think supermarket might have it too.🤔🤔

Thankyou for wanting to know how I am doing. Sometimes I don’t really know myself to be honest. 🙃🙃🙃

I will turn the aircon on if it gets too hot @NatureLover . I have the choice now. Plus I need to keep furbaby cool and not stressed, so that will help with any guilt feeling.

I hope you rest some today. 3 hours in the garden yesterday is a lot, but it’s so nice outside when it’s not too hot. My garden is watered and ready for the heat to arrive.

Take care. 💚💚💕💕🌸🌹🌿🌴🍀🍀🍀

Lol. Actually with my 6-monthly rental inspections I have to have both outside and inside tidy at the same time. It's a lovely feeling, but never lasts. And very stressful, getting to that point.

I seem to remember my local IGA supermarket has things like tea tree oil...not sure if they have the actual stuff. I will check Chemist Warehouse, thanks.

Of course. I always prefer to know honestly. But fair enough, about not knowing.

I'm glad you have a good reason (furbaby) to turn the aircon on. I remember not being able to afford to run the heat or the cooling, for years. It was awful. You also are a good reason to turn the aircon on, but I can relate to (previously) feeling not worthy.

I rested yesterday instead of cleaning the house, so I'm going to attempt to do 3 hours' work on the house today. 😮 But first - a walk and a little watering. It sounds like you might have been out at 5am again, watering?

I like the fern, roses and plants you left me 🙂 And thank you for the also...sending lots back. Along with 🍅 and 🍓 @Maggie
