Re: Difficult

Hi @STORMGRL101

Welcome to the Forums!

Life does indeed get difficult from time to time. Do you feel like explaining a bit more about what you're finding difficult at the moment? There are lots of nice people here on the Forums and there's always someone to listen.

Re: Difficult

I dont get why my life has turned out the way it has. Why is it so difficult for me to communicate with people. I am a private person and its even hard to talk to my family about all this even though they are supportive of me. Its so hard to get back on my feet especially after hospital in Nov. Ive always been an outsider and now i have no friends. I have a boyfriend and he knows of my struggles but ive been unemployed for so long and dont know how im ever going to get a job.

Re: Difficult

How long do you have the house to yourself for @STORMGRL101? It sounds like your parents are a good support so I imagine it’s a bit of a challenge having them away when you have so much going on. Is there anyone else you can chat to while they’re away?

I’m glad to hear your new psychiatrist is committed to helping you get better. How is that going so far?

You are certainly not the only person to have trouble with communicating. When things are tough, talking about it can be one of the hardest, but sometimes the most relieving thing. I know there are other members who can relate to this difficulty. @Bimby2, @Sahara and @utopia have discussed the topic here. You can also read about @vraero's experience of communicating with professionals here, along with some great tips from @mrkotter, @BlueBay and other members.

I think others can also relate to the difficulty of getting things back on track after a hospital stay. Another member, @utopia, has recently been to hospital. @utopia, do you have any tips on readjusting after your stay?

@STORMGRL101 please keep posting

Re: Difficult

I have a few weeks with the house to myself. I been trying to keep busy but the nights are especially hard. My psychiatrist has changed one of my medications and asked me to get a blood test and brain scan to help her figure out whats going on. I am seeing my psychologist this week after she has been on holidays. It will be hard because I am not good at talking to the professionals. I know they are there to help but I feel like I am making no progress.

Re: Difficult

Hi @STORMGRL101. Hospital was great. I had a routine, meals were cooked for me, therapy classes during the day & plenty of patients or nurses to talk to when I wanted to chat.
It's hard when I got home. There was no therapy sessions to attend & I had to try and entertain myself. Weekdays were hard as my friends were at work.
So I try and set a sleep and wake up time. In the morning I like to do a mindfulness meditation. I read, watch tv, a little housework. I have weekly sessions with ny psychologist & fortnightly with my gp and psychiatrist.
I write a bit - feelings or words - whatever I'm feeling. Random thoughts and dreams.
I have phone numbers at hand if I need them. From the local CATT Team to lifeline etc.
I have found posting on this site to be therapeutic. I write what happened to upset me that day - post it - & generally 5 minutes later I'm over it.
This site is also good because I sometimes miss the 'friendships' that I made in the hospital. Having a yarn with someone. The sorts of chats where there is no judgement.
I've settled in back at home. I still have a few hard moments, but on the whole I'm feeling pretty happy & safe.
I hope to hear from you soon

Re: Difficult

Thanks for sharing your experience @utopia
Hospital was a safe place for me and it was nice to feel supported.

Today has been tiring. Met up with lady at job provider, psychologist & phams worker. Good to have some people contact i guess. Tomorrow getting brain scan done that psychiatrist ordered. Mmm.
