Newbie

Hi, this is my first time being a part of any type of forum. I am a little unsure and anxious about it. I have joined up hoping to get some support and to meet new people who perhaps share the same things I do and can understand my state of mind.
3 things about me:

I am a single parent to 2 boys

I love to read

I love summer

Re: Newbie

I have also tried mindfulness meditation etc and they also dont work for me. That is my biggest fear about falling asleep....flashbacks which is what I have had a few times lately. I am just over it. I am so tired of feeling tired. I have 2 kids to look after and that is a very bid struggle right now.

Re: Newbie

@Lee82, @Zoe7 @ i do just call in when it is just scripts and they fax them to the pharmacy who deliver it to us. But during his asthma season he is monitored for chest infections as tends to get them easily around this time of year so physically going to the drs for regular checkups is required so that we catch chest infections early before they become something worse like pneumonia

Re: Newbie

I can only imagine how hard it is to be looking after 2 kids on your own with very little or no sleep @Lee82 It is hard enough just looking after oneself when not sleeping Sometimes just getting things out and having others listen can work for me - other times it is allowing the thoughts to happen knowing I will eventually get through it - but that has taken a lot of practice and time to be able to do.

Do you see a psychologist or counsellor? I don't presently but can make an appointment again at any stage - handy having that available to me if things go downhill again.

Re: Newbie

I do see a psychologist. She is great but is the only person I can share all this with which makes it difficult when you go through all sorts of emotions every single day. For me the nights are the worst. Lots of time for thinking and punishing myself and ruminating.
I don't have anyone in my life to share this with or who I can lean on and ask for support which makes it even more difficult to deal with

Re: Newbie

I am also susceptible to chest infections and bronchitis @Define_normal so at the first sign of any symptoms have to head to the doctor. I have had pneumonia a couple of times too so better safe than sorry. My asthma has been controlled for a long time now but still have th occasional flare up when I am unwell. Certainly nothing like it sounds is the case with your son though. I imagine it would be super scary for both of you.

Re: Newbie

I'm so sorry to hear the @Define_normal . Poor little guy. As @Zoe7 mentioned the doctors do now come out to your car to do their assessments or they even make you wait in your car until you get called in and then you go straight into their room for your appointment and then leave straight away therefore there are no people waiting inside.
is your son on a preventer ?

Re: Newbie

That is the great thing about the forum @Lee82 - so many wonderful people with listening eyes and very supportive. It is hard being on your own with little support but knowing there are others out there that can both share in your experiences and offer that support is often a life saver - it has been for me

Re: Newbie

im glad that I decided to join this forum. It has distracted me a little for a while as self harm is something I struggle with a lot and keeping my hands busy this way seems to be working tonight
