Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

Hi all.

I have made a new thread here. I need to do this to make it feel real and important or else it'll just be another comment I make on an already existing thread. There are many areas in my life where I feel like giving up. I don't really care how irrational it may sound. I don't care if it's silly. It's just how it is for me at the moment.

I've never been as good as what I am now (on paper) and I put that down to the supportive environment here on the forums.

But I am struggling again.

There are many things on my mind and in my life that are causing me to rethink a lot of what I thought I knew about family and friends. I need to review some things again.

I am also getting lazy around my physical health and diet. I eat a lot more rubbish and I've put on some weight (in the bad way). I used to be quite skinny but then I went to the gym and sorted that out. But lately I have had 0 motivation for exercise because I find it so boring. It's just really boring. I have no enjoyment in it anymore. I think I never really did, but I did it just to be healthy. Now I just don't care. I don't see any utility in doing it anymore.

I feel like giving up on dating. There are just too many fake people in the world and I am exhausted by it. I am also thinking that my lack of relationship in early 20s and late teens is a turn off for many girls my age. I'm trying to see the benefits in my situation but I don't believe there are any.

My sister's health is progressively getting worse. So is her social health. She is having fights with her friends. Mum babies her about a lot. It's not helping. Dad has given up I think. And he is also likely doing "things" behind my mum's back and she is turning a blind eye to it. I have no input on any of that so I simply have to sit by and watch it go down.

I hate my job but getting money is important. I had this conversation with my parents the other day. They seem to have the belief that I can get into something I want to do. I don't. I am trying to find the light and the way forward with that but I don't know how they can see it. I have a desire to go into journalism/writing. But that environment is so political and I don't think I'm able to "pick a side". My internship taught me how I can do it. But it's just such an effort. I don't know if I have the stamina to get there.

I think that's all I can think of for now. I am sitting here on my pc playing a videogame and waiting for food to arrive. I am worried I will just get worse if nothing is done. But that urgency seems small compared to anything else I can do.

In a nutshell - I am not well.

Usually non fiction @Anastasia

I downloaded some things this morning to see if I will read them.

At the moment I am reading George Lucas' biography. My mum dad and sister got it for me for my bday.

Yeah I'll i feel down. I think sometimes during summer or a summer day I feel bad for staying st home. I can't quite figure out why.
I wouldn't mind going to the beach. But that can be hard for me to do on my own as there are always so many people at the beach. It can be a bit overwhelming tbh

That will be an interesting read @MDT

I can relate to how you feel. I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be doing things. I think social media has a lot to answer for. I have deactivated Facebook recently as it really didn't help my headspace to see others doing "fun" things whilst my life feels like it is mostly routine and work.

We can be at the beach together on here.

I do love the water and warm weather. Do you swim in the ocean? I don't I'm a scaredy cat. I only hi in up to my chest. There are so many beautiful beaches in Australia, we are lucky.

Yeah I like to swim in it. The water is cleansing i think. Its also nice to just be able to chill out.

I was thinking of scheduling some meet ups at the beach in the new year once the corona restrictions are gone.

But yes. I agree re Facebook pressure and such. Its a real bum. I also feel like I am losing friends. Which isn't nice.

That sounds like a good idea for the new year @MDT

Your real friends will stick by you. I think covid makes us all feel like our friends are slipping away as we can't see them. I'm in NSW so very lucky but still keeping isolated as my father is having chemotherapy and want to keep him safe.

Hopefully 2021 will bring fresh hope to all of us.

Do you live near the beach? I have over an hour to my closest one so it's rare for me to go. Last summer I had a blow up pool in the backyard which was lovely. Since then I have moved and no longer have the luxury. One day I dream to look out on to the water in some capacity.

I am also feeling lonely. I think I am trying to cover that up.

Are there any online groups you can get involved in @MDT

Do you play any online games that you could join a group?

Sorry you are feeling this way my friend 🤗

Thanks for the tag Hamso. Glad to see @Anastasia has been here for you. I just dont feel very talkative lately. Everything seems too big an effort. I dont think you need me bringing you down any more than you already are.

How is your footy and soccer teams going?

I have one friend I play games with - sort of @Anastasia

I find it gets too competitive with him and he really enjoys too much i think.

I find single player is easier on me. But I also think as I am getting older the appeal of games is dying out. I am more interested in things in the real world too. So maybe this is a source of discontent too.

For example yesterday I was on the mic chat with my friend and he was laughing and generally getting really excited playing call of duty. I uninstalled that game because I find it boring now. I'm okay at it. But even still I get no enjoyment out of it. I just sit there wasting away. Time doesn't go quickly lol. Rather I get engrossed in strategy games. I really enjoy that and that's really only single player.

I also think that as I have grown over the past few years from finishing uni - where everyday I was there was a social element as much as an educational one, I also needed my space to myself. There were days I could go to uni and not talk to anyone and just be engrossed in what I was learning. They were good days.

I think maybe I am just trying to understand myself more. Trying to place myself in this crazy big world.

I had some form of a plan back in March in relation to career goals. Was going to be going to seminars and workshops where I could network with people. That would've been good. But covid saw an end to that stuff.

I think over this time since March I have just been on autopilot. I took that month off in August. That was very helpful. I nearly quit my job entirely. But I am now glad that I did not quit it because it would've thrown me about more. Because once I quit then that's it... harder to find something let alone during covid.

I think my next psych appt will be this week or next week. One of the 2. That's good timing.

Meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out what I am going to do with my life next year. I need something I'm passionate about.
