Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

Hi all.

I have made a new thread here. I need to do this to make it feel real and important or else it'll just be another comment I make on an already existing thread. There are many areas in my life where I feel like giving up. I don't really care how irrational it may sound. I don't care if it's silly. It's just how it is for me at the moment.

I've never been as good as what I am now (on paper) and I put that down to the supportive environment here on the forums.

But I am struggling again.

There are many things on my mind and in my life that are causing me to rethink a lot of what I thought I knew about family and friends. I need to review some things again.

I am also getting lazy around my physical health and diet. I eat a lot more rubbish and I've put on some weight (in the bad way). I used to be quite skinny but then I went to the gym and sorted that out. But lately I have had 0 motivation for exercise because I find it so boring. It's just really boring. I have no enjoyment in it anymore. I think I never really did, but I did it just to be healthy. Now I just don't care. I don't see any utility in doing it anymore.

I feel like giving up on dating. There are just too many fake people in the world and I am exhausted by it. I am also thinking that my lack of relationship in early 20s and late teens is a turn off for many girls my age. I'm trying to see the benefits in my situation but I don't believe there are any.

My sister's health is progressively getting worse. So is her social health. She is having fights with her friends. Mum babies her about a lot. It's not helping. Dad has given up I think. And he is also likely doing "things" behind my mum's back and she is turning a blind eye to it. I have no input on any of that so I simply have to sit by and watch it go down.

I hate my job but getting money is important. I had this conversation with my parents the other day. They seem to have the belief that I can get into something I want to do. I don't. I am trying to find the light and the way forward with that but I don't know how they can see it. I have a desire to go into journalism/writing. But that environment is so political and I don't think I'm able to "pick a side". My internship taught me how I can do it. But it's just such an effort. I don't know if I have the stamina to get there.

I think that's all I can think of for now. I am sitting here on my pc playing a videogame and waiting for food to arrive. I am worried I will just get worse if nothing is done. But that urgency seems small compared to anything else I can do.

In a nutshell - I am not well.

Thanks @DJMasters
Playing a city builder atm.
Listening to a lecture on ssri meds too. Maybe I should go back on them. I'm unsure. I believe the issues I'm facing are more to do with my lifestyle

Just trying my best

Re: Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

No No No @MDT

You never wasted yout time going to university - it is a time and place for us to have a special life - to be exposed to ideas and to explore our universe - and to grow - it is never wasted

But it is a hard choice - to be sticking with a job you hate and the alternative - doing nothing - I can't speculate on that but I am sure there is something else you could be doing - on-line or delivering -

It's being afraid that ties people down and restricts their choices - sometimes we have to take a risk - and you're unsure - that's natural -

I'm sure I never stayed in a job I hated - and when I was an under-graduate there were jobs and jobs and there were a couple I wouldn't do - but times are different

I wish you the best though - I do - I hope you can find something even if it's voluntary - if you are looking for something else to get paid for then you would be entitled to job-seeker at least - the question is of course can you afford time without pay - and only you know that

Tough choice

Re: Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

Aw @MDT - I hear you -

The hardest part about making a decision is getting around to acting on that idea - yes - terrible idea - I know

But about the fog - I don't know but if you are thinking about taking your medication again then perhaps speak to your doctor about it - they might help with the fog

For different reasons I was in a fog for a few weeks recently - caused by my choice between having pain or taking pain killers that made me spacy and it was really hard to have conversations with my case-worker - and I started to feel foggy - but my decision was really easy - I got to a stage where I would rather have the pain than feel spacy - other people would have been okay with the opposite decision - so it gets back to how to get rid of the fog and imo that's the first thing

So what they say a lot on TV is to get out and walk around in the fresh air - I couldn't last week because I was waiting for elective surgery and I had 7 days in total isolation with no leaving the house for any reason and I did feel it - not exactly foggy - but misty - definitely

And to have a routine that suits you and only you - if you want to read in bed for an hour or more in the morning and get up - then do that - and make sure you have a good meal every day - and drink water - and you might find that fog blows away

I'm sure I can find some clipart that will say what I think or how I think you feel - yes - get active and walk out of that fog and I really want to know if that works for you

I seem to have fog in my pictures atm - sending my best thoughts though

Hi @Appleblossom

Not good - it sounds scary - and I think BP medication can be tricky - I am sorry this has happened to you

Cutting down salt - personally that would not be hard when it comes to adding salt because I don't but it's in nearly everything we eat so that is a tough ask - but necessary

Let's know how you are going - and I haven't read about your son yet - I was not at all well physically for a few weeks - I had day surgery last Friday and feel so much better - I think I am among the lucky last few people to have elective surgery now the lock down has been increased

All the best though

This might looked like a professional health worker but I am just a busy body taking notes and sporting the mandatory mask
