Something’s not right

bad day at work :(

I messed up something at work - it was something important for the customer but I messed it up

because I wasn't thinking at the time 😞

The customer wasn't happy and now he has to call someone to try and fix the problem.

He said he didn't know how I could make such a stupid mistake - not face to face but he said to me

over the phone.

I made a phone call to try to help but it didn't work ....

I wish that customer went through someone else - why did he go through me?

that is bad luck - if he didn't go through me nothing would have happened 😞

It's annoying because now I have to wait for the customer to call back and let me know what happened

and I don't know when he will call back it might not be for weeks....

I can understand how you might be feeling @jamesle2015 - I hate to make mistakes - and I give myself a hard time

It's a bit difficult to follow your time-line - but let's see

What can you actually do about this mistake?

How bad is it?

Do you have a boss who is likely to fire you about this - or are you likely to lose a customer?

I guess you are giving yourself a hard time right now - and so - it will haunt you - I guess - but the mistake is made now

Try and not to feel bad after you have given yourself some time - we can't change the past

I won't get fired but my boss wants me to handle the situation - I have to answer when the customer calls.

It's bad for him ..because of my mistake.

He reckons he'll have to resubmit all his forms - he is applying for something -

Not much I can do - I might need to pay for something to help the customer but that depends on what happens with the other people he speaks to.

We all maake mistakes @jamesle2015 because we're human. There's no such thing as a bad mistake as long as we learn from it. I suspect this is why your boss wants you to deal with the customer. This way you will learn more about assisting a customer and also hopefully learn how to rectify the error.

Try not to stress about it too much. Think about how it happened, what you contributed to the error, what the customer contributed to the mistake and how you can prevent it happening again. This is a constructive way of approaching what happened and far better than beating yourself to a pulp over it.

In this job it's impossible not to make 'mistakes'...

My manager made a mistake today - it was a mistake you wouldn't expect a manager to make.

I think it was due to poor concentration - got distracted.

Everyone makes mistakes .. mostly I admit mine ... I respect those who admit theirs and do their best anyway .. hope it works out for you in the end.
