Confused and careless

Confused and careless

Hi There,

I'm a 20 year old female who's dealing with " typical teenage drama" plus a little bit more. I won't bore you with my past experiences but will say I've been advices my a few phycologist to try rapid eye movement desensitisation therapy? Not sure if this a common therapy and was interested as to wether anyone has had an experience with such thing?
I've been stuck in a round about thought process of knowing I need to do something to better my life and move on and up in the world, but also not wanting any help at all.

Hoping reading some experiences of others will help me find the guts to go get started with my recovery process.

Thanks.

Re: Confused and careless

hi @Carefulyet

welcome to the forums,

i havent tried this but my psychologist would really like me to but there are no providers around here. She thinks the research into the fast effectiveness of the treatments for ptsd are really amazing but i felt a bit scared of the process.. having to try and think of crappy memories and hold them for a bit while moving my eyes didnt sound great to me. but it would be worth it if those memories lost their ... power/strength to control me.

good luck

lj

Hi @Carefulyet

Welcome to the Forums 🙂

I don't recall anyone really mentioning they have tried rapid eye desensitisation therapy, that's not to say no one where hasn't though.

@Former-Member just out of interest - is the 'provider' a psychologist who is trained in this treatment, or another professional?
