No More

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I'm so glad to have found this forum. Instantly I'm worrying about whether I'm writing the right thing :face_with_rolling_eyes: so borderline of me, but then I smiled to myself and thought finally I have found people who I don't have to prepare for my potential mess ups because you know how I feel!! My title No More is how I've been feeling over the last few days - I don't want to have BPD anymore!! How I wish it would take its complexities and f*k*off!!!!! It's so exhausting. So my diagnosis is C-PTSD, BPD and substance abuse disorder. Well of course the last one is thrown in as I struggle with trying to feel better.... However I'm alcohol free by nearly 19mths yay me!! But I've turned to pills which is what led me to seek the right help this time.... Realising I can kick drinking but then insidiously pills became my new bff, I knew there was something aside from the ever present call of "addictive behaviour", to find out finally that what I've felt for so so long has a name. Relief. And now the work begins. I'm hoping to work out how to navigate this website so I can read your stories and be part of a group of people who actually do understand me. Being so alone is hard. Hugs x

Re: No More

@BPDSurvivor, not sure if you saw my post on creating a video to raise awareness for BPD? I agree with you - we need love! We need understanding and nurturing. We need people to cut us slack when the disorder knocks us sideways... and the only way for these things to happen is for people to know that BPD exists and what it's actually truly like to have it

Re: No More

@BPDSurvivor!!! YESSSSSSSS!!! OMG we live in a crazy world, everything is so fast. Slowing down and literally smelling the roses is something we need to allow ourselves to do more. I'm going to start putting different posters up around the house to help me get over some of the times that I can't handle life. I might actually make this a post and see if others would be ok to share any of their skills and tactics x

Re: No More

I wish there were more services available. I know there’s Spectrum, but they take only very few people amongst the thousands diagnosed with BPD and I guess you need to live within a certain distance to access their services in Melbourne. Besides some private clinics, I don’t know anywhere else, particularly NSW, who specialise in BPD. I find BPD so complex, so without a patient therapist, it can be extremely challenging and unpredictable.

Re: No More

Hi @Snowflake11 ,

Thanks for asking about my well-being. Happy R U OK day for yesterday! I’m hitting a few bumps on my BPD journey, but I’m receiving a lot of help from community health services. I truly am greatful for the support here in these forums as well as the support I’m receiving from outside. Really, if it wasn’t for support, I’d be 6-ft under.

Reaching out is the key. I know this is so hard, particularly when we are used to isolating ourselves to avoid emotional pain (that’s me anyway). Now I have to re-learn to connect with people. It’s a very difficult and time-consuming skill to re-learn, but ultimately, connection is what keeps us going.

All the best for all of you! Hugs to all! @BlueBay @Snowflake11 @outlander @Shaz51 @CheerBear
