Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

We had our QBW outing yesterday- couldn't find a local "special event" that really appealed, so we made it a day trip to a local town. Had a nice cafe lunch, browsed antiqueries and went for a walk in the sunshine. 'Twas nice.

Yeah, it's a bit strange that not all the states and territories have the Queen's birthday holiday at the same time. Having my birthday fall around mid June, I used to like those long weekends.

Not til Tuesday but a bit sad this year without Mum around. She used to make these amazing birthday cards for me. I have them all in a shoe box. Will get them out and remember the love she put into each one 😥

Found a couple of "botanical art" prints and an interesting vintage lolly jar in an op shop, and a few nice old (1930-40ish I think?) soup bowls at an antiquery. We used them for our pasta dinner last night. I'm someone who believes in occasionally using the "nice things". To me, it's kind of sad seeing a beautlful dinner setting locked up in a cabinet and never used. As my sister and I are going through our parents' house, we're both finding that the things we treasure are the ones that we remember using more than the "expensive" things that never made it to the table. So special occasions = special crockery. 🙂 (Frightened one of the guests at our son's 18th by telling her the dishes she was helpfully drying for me included wedding pressies and antiques. Mheeheehee!!)
