Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi All

There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.

I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.

Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.

Hi @soul - I know all too well about the head being in a mess. That was me last night and probably me again tonight.

@Former-Member - just catching up on your posts. I can relate to never ending tasks and lists. It may seem that they are becoming out of control. But can some of the tasks be put on a lower priority, set aside for another day if you don't get to it? Are you able to prioritise your list from most important to least and tackle it one by one in that order? Lovely avatar by the way. It is so sad but real. Really speaks to me especially how I feel today.

I wish I had the answer to stopping nightmares. Whilst dealing with trauma, my therapist told me to look at them as just thoughts and not reality. She said to picture those things in the dream as having a coloured veil over them as a barrier from what was real - kind of like a past memory in a film. These thoughts can't hurt you anymore.

Yes please share the poem @Former-Member.

Also I'm sure the horses appreciate the care you give them.

Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time @Anony18. If it helps to chat about it, do so but only when you are ready - maybe in the morning.

Heres the poem

She sat alone

alone and at home

where her screams are silent

but her mind was violent

her insecurities hid deep inside

and they eat her alive

her face says happy

but her eyes say pain

thats just how the day goes again and again

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Completely understand @Former-Member on both your posts.

What kind of books do you like to read? I love to read though don't have much time for it. Only do it when I travel. I like fiction, mainly romantic comedy. My favourite author is Sophie Kinsella. She wrote the confessions of a shopaholic series.

Creative writing - have you done any of your own? I am not much of a writer. I love writing letters to people and expressing myself but I cannot say that I am good at it.

Nature - I enjoy it too. I always find that it calms me down no matter what. When am out there I feel my troubles just melt away. Not sure if you do too. One of my regrets in life is that I never grew up learning to hike or camp. I really wished I had that skill cause there are so many times I wish I could escape. Don't have anyone to teach me. Going camping this weekend as a mini start but it isn't full on camping like my partner does as we still have hot showers and civilisation close by. I spent alot of money this weekend buying a 90L backpack. It is more a travel one than a hiking one - apparently there is a difference. But I guess it will encourage me to hopefully one day do some backpacking. Might need save money to get a hiking bag if I ever learn to do proper hiking. Also after purchasing it, apparently they say 90L is a bit too much and the 60L - 75L would be sufficient but it was really a $10 difference from the 75L to 90L. Sorry am going off a tangent now.

Ohhh what breed of horses do you have? Have you heard about the clip on hoofs for horses? A staff of mine owns horses and I came across this video which I shared with her.
