There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.
I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.
Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.
@Former-Member - that cat looks sooooooooo relaxed.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
Tell me about it @soul. Days where I wish I was a child again with the innocence and where my worries was studying and getting grounded by my parents. I am not sure how you view it and if you see it same way as me, but it is the complications of life that you hope eventually strengthens you and more importantly it shows you the amazing people in your life, such as you all. This is my small spot of positivity at this very moment cause reality today I am not really feeling much of it.....

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
Thanks @soul, how are you? Yes, mum has mellowed, the visit was ok today, but her MI causes huge mood swings & outbursts at the best of times but having this terminal cancer - she's, well, just not coping - all the time. She cried a lot today, changes the subject in conversations (avoiding pain, even walks off) and gets distracted by the slightest thing (in her head as well as the room), exhausting. But yes, she has mellowed too (for moments) and disclosed the sad news that - the cancer has tripled in size in 3months (was stable for precious 2yrs), and - she is not a suitable candidate for chemo Its hard though because she has been known to lie for impact and won't show me the scan reports, but she has lost a lot of wright. Dad can't handle her being upset - thinks shed be better off not knowing.
My brother dropped in while I was there, saved a visit to his place, he seems stable himself - took him out for lunch. He gets lonely. The psychosis is always in the background, have to work overtime keeping those topicsvoff the table without offence. His new medication seems to be working, he's calmer, but he'd never admit that.
Done my bit!!! Got my feet up and finishing some easter eggs, nuts and fruit for tea. Slack I know, but I'm calling it 'self care' 🙂
What's everyone _having for tea ?

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?
@Former-Member Good to hear that you did indeed visit your mother and saw your brother too. I am somewhat estranged from my family so that doesn't help matters. It will be a very trying time for you as your Mum is in the end stage of her life. The final eighteen months with my father were both the best and worst times. Good in that he mellowed as he was rather opinionated and cranky most of the time before then. Difficult because I watched his health deteriorate and at times he begged me to end it for him 😢 That was really heartbreaking.
Cancer really is a crappy thing to have. My Mum went through three recurrences of lymphoma and that wasn't nice.
Remember to take care of yourself so you don't burn out.
For dinner tonight, I went vego with chick pea and feta burgers.
