Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi All

There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.

I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.

Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.

Hi @Shaz51

It sounds as if this iron over-load thing is a family affair

In my family - I have chronic pain, gd has cfs, one of my first cousins was allergic to the C20th - one of my second cousins had fibromyalgia

Dad told me his mother was always sick - and my memories of her have her being ill a lot and all of us a descended from this grandmother from 3 of her sons

It makes me wonder a lot

I hope are okay @Shaz51

Yes @Decadian,

there are things that are passed down , and some might have this part but not that part of the illness

and years ago they did not know what they had and had to keep going through the pains , ect

How are you today ??

we had a busy day ,did a 4 hour cleaning job this morning and then a 2 hour job after lunch and then visited my mum , so a bit tired now

thinking wheather to have a green tea before bed xx

Hi @Shaz51

Yes - things can be passed down with different people having different parts of the sydrome - and I feel I am fortunate to be the one with the pain - at least it's the devil I know - I would always prefer the devil I know

I don't like tea at all - and I don't know why my taste has changed - I don't even drink much coffee but I do take some supplements and I believe they work and they will because I believe they will. I believe in the power of the mind when it suits me

Today I saw my doctor and he had a letter from my new therapist - she is using CBT and now I have an idea about what that is - like I don't forget the past but I learn to replace the bad memories with better ones and it seems to be working

She has given me a solid idea - like a post-mortem dx about my son - and I know a label is a label but she has thought about what I have told her - and focussed on his sense of hearing and smell being more than most people - and also his lack of depth perception which cause his accidents. It explains a lot

She thinks he had BPD - I have held the idea that he was sociopathic for many many years so it is a powerful relief to have someone agree with me. It also lets other people off the hook - not that they ever want to know

You do work hard - wow - and we had a very hot day today and it got very stormy this evening - more strong wind and heavy rain

Yes @Shaz51

I understand what you mean about your husband being amvibalent with semi-retliring - men find retirement hard - when women retired they usually still run their empty or not-so-empty nest

Sleep well

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Early retirement can be a good thing if you plan for it. My uncle sold up and retired to an island with a lovely wooden boat .. but there is always work .. he had to pull it out of the water and scrape off the barnacles .. wooden boats need a lot of extra care and re varnishing.

@Shaz51 Challenge hubby to think about hobbies during retirement.

Good morning @Appleblossom, @Faith-and-Hope, @Former-Member, @Decadian

Nice cup of coffee this morning my friends xx

@Decadian yes, as women we find it easier to semi retire or retire as we still find plenty to do everyday , My mum said yesterday that I will have no worries as I will always keep myself busy but in a different way xx

as we are cutting back on work , i have been trying to encourge my husband to take up a hobby

Looking forward to topic tusday tonight @Appleblossom

Yippee @Former-Member xx Yes , i think what jobs we had goes to what is happening now when we are older , as i looked after between 7 to 12 children a day from babies to teenagers for 25 years has affected my body over the years xx

hope you have a good day xoxo
