Oh gosh @Shaz51 that is such a beautiful picture .... so real too. (Hi also to @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member @outlander @Janiee @Zoe7 @Peri and others). My most favourite spots are beside running water. Love it ... thank you.
Now ... a hot chocolate would be so much appreciated. Or any nice hot cuppa for that matter - tea (real leaves in a teapot please), chai latte.
The reason I say that is because we have had a 3 day power outage here from Thursday evening through to last night. My goodness .. dont we rely on power! I'm fine without power if I know I'm not going to have it. But I plan for it and am organised. But this one occurred due to a major weather event where we had almost tornado type winds and electrical storms. Wiped out much of the poles and wires infrastructure in this area, which had to be rebuilt. So no power, also means (thanks to the damned NBN) no landline phones. Mobile reception in this area is dodgy at best. And when the mobile goes flat you cant charge it up anyway. And of course I had done the right thing and did all my Christmas grocery shopping on Thursday to avoid the expected crowds on Christmas Eve. What a waste that was! Much of the fresh food was spoilt by the time the power finally came back on. I'm hoping our Christmas Leg Ham (as yet unopened) has survived the big thaw. Wont know I guess until I cut it open. Of course I would have gone into town and got an esky of ice if I knew we were going to be out for 3 days. But oh no, the power company kept saying it will be up by tonight. They said that for 3 days. Grrrr....
So ... I am not long back from doing another shop. No parking, drive around for ages looking, then que up for ages to get through the checkout. Oh I hate this time of year. Okay so thats my whinge. At least the big storm brought cooler weather, so we didnt miss our fans or AC during the blackout. Could have been much worse, couldnt it. Although it was a worry not having phone access when the mobile went flat. My husband was really sick the first day and I was worried I may have to call an ambulance if he got worse. Grateful it wasnt necessary and he is finally starting to improve again.
But it has been a very worrying and stressful time since Thursday. All added onto everything else thats been going on emotionally of late.
So its company and a nice hot cuppa I come here for now. No power also meant no hot water, no cuppas. Not even a cold drink to compensate. I detest room temperature water on hot days. Ahhh, there I go back to whinging. I should just be grateful we have the power back on at last. Which I am. Sigh.
