Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hi All

There is a thread operating on the Lived Experience Forum under Night Shift where members who are having trouble sleeping for any reason give a bit of a shout-out, to see if there is anyone else sleepless and looking for company. It's been such a great thing, I thought I would start one over here too.

I have had the odd few nights where I have woken up on and off, and my kids have been having a bit of trouble some nights too, depending on what has happened during the day.

Being a carer can be lonely too, so if you are making an after-midnight cup of something hot, and wonder who else might be doing that too, maybe have a look-in here and see if anyone else is about.

Cordial sounds nice @Smc

I was thinking of the newly replaced oven and cooktop @Determined. Were they a good test unit i.e. are you getting the same make and model?

Same unit @Former-Member

Was happy with the last one so no point in trying something new.

@Determined

Hope the grad went well and your scones got consumed with gusto.

Finally home.

Grad went well @Former-Member though I went and hid outside for part of it due to the noise.

Lots of food left over but scones were not among the left overs lol. Someone obviously appreciated them 😊

Morning, Peoples!

@Determined, I get what you mean about the noise, particularly with kids that age. 😄 Is nice that the scones went down well.

During the last couple of years that our Younger Daughter was in primary school, I started making a point of bringing an allergy friendly snack along to school bring-a-plate events. This was after the kind of sobering experience of having a little girl ask me at a school BBQ what she could eat off the desserts table that didn't have gluten or dairy in it. Out of a table groaning with sweet treats... the fruit salad passed. 😕

Funny thing is... once a plate has a label on it saying that it's gluten, dairy, soy, egg and nut free, everyone expects it's also flavourless and they won't touch it, except for the kids (and one teacher) in question. Finally they could actually eat someting that hadn't been provided by their own parents. Those plates always went home empty because said parents would excitedly ask if I minded if they took the leftovers home for morning recess snacks, and could they please have the recipe because that was yummy!

And speaking of yummy, I've just had a sample cup of my cordial from last night. Oooh, nice! Now the mind is drifting towards Christmas semi-alcoholic rose plum cocktails....

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Our town has Christmas parade but I am not sure when it is happening @Shaz51. We have only been to it once and that was by default - we didn't realise it was on and when we came out the supermarket the street was blocked off. The violin concert sounds very civilised.

Hi @Determined
