Hi @Angels333
i just came upon upon this thread I realise it’s an old post for you so I hope it’s ok to do this. I had every intention of stopping SH in 2021. It’s now only 3 days in and I am failing miserably. I am letting my family down so badly. They don’t know about it. I am scared it’s going to get out of control like it did last year resulting in a few inpatient psych admissions. I called the community triage number today but it was only a male worker on and I can’t talk to a male about what has been going on as I find talking to males about what is going on in my head to be very triggering. I have been trying different strategies but they aren’t really working anymore. It’s a very isolating thing SH and one that I am very ashamed of. Anyway it would be nice just to connect with someone who understands how hard this can be.

@Former-Member Hi.
I read your post and you are welcome to read and comment. I hear you are struggling. I struggle too but it's been better lately for me. I've worked through a lot of stuff with my psychologist and stuck with DBT groups for a long time. I am in recovery which doesn't mean I'm recovered if that makes sense. Are you new to the forum? Are you safe atm after using SH? I have tagged the @Former-Member just to check... I hope that's okay.
I'm working a lot this week but I will try and check in more.

Hey @Angels333
@I have been in touch with the community mental health team and they were pretty useless. Just feel like things getting out of control. Why is this so hard? Stupid head.

Oh @Former-Member I hope you find some support here. MI is hard, SH has its own difficulties. Sorry the mental health team weren't helpful for you, it's scary when things feel out of control. Keep reaching out to your supports.

Hey @Former-Member thought I would pop by and say hi. Don’t really have any answers for you I’m sorry other than to keep doing what you need to do to keep yourself safe and keep reaching out for support and help. I too struggle with sh, with increasing intensity these last couple of days, I’ve had some stupidly close calls. It really is a battle. I can also relate to your frustration with community mental health. I was discharged from hospital just before Christmas and was told I would have and have been expecting follow up from them. But nothing. And when I am really struggling like I have been it’s difficult to make those calls myself. I feel let down by them and disappointed.
So with all that said, sitting here with you if it helps.

Hey @Bow @ and @Angels333 It seems the more I SH the more I think about it. I need to stop this cycle. It's the only thing that stops my head from remembering. I try and distract myself but it doesn't work. I just want this to stop. I need this to stop. I'm so numb. My nights are full of flashbacks that I can only stop by keeping myself awake but I am exhausted. I'm starting to get scared that things are spiralling.

It’s a very vicious cycle @Former-Member and a difficult one to break. I currently have no real solutions other than trying to distract yourself. Have you used the rubber band around your wrist? Ice? I really struggle of a night time too, my thoughts often get the better of me and I spiral pretty quickly. I’m thankful that I take meds that help me sleep, so that eventually puts an end to it when I crash, although some nights they just don’t work.
