Hi Diamond 🙂

Thanks for continuing to share your journey.

I didn't know there was a religion-ocd, but I do now ! I remember you said in an earlier thread that your son talks about offending the saints.

When I had a quick browse, it has come up under the title of Scrupulosity. Are you searching for support groups or reading material under that title ? It might be more successful.

❤️

Hi @ faith-and-hope
It's not a well recognized type of ocd people mistaken that for being extremely religious and wanting to live a very spiritual life like a saint but for us my son is also very withdrawan agitated all the time sooooo opposite of his usual self and also he has eating disorder 😞 I would love to find a support group particularly for that type of ocd in Sydney! I know there r some in Melbourne which I got in touch with but haven't heard back as yet!
psychiatrist also made the referral for the crisis assessment team but it's taking soooo long!
It's also wrong timing his in year 12!
it's just about waiting now till I hear from them!
how r things with u @ faith-and-hope?

Hi @Diamond,

You have probably found this already but the Anxiety House in brisbane have some fact sheets and you could perhaps call and see if they know any agencies in your area?

Sorry I dont anything about this type of OCD except to say that I googled it as faith-and-hope did, but i was wondering as an alternative if you could attend a support group for people supporting others with any form of OCD? obviously there are huge differences but there are differences in everyones experiences and if there is some similarity about intrusive thoughts and persistent compulsions to act maybe it could be a subsitute?

Either way I hope you are getting support from somewhere

Re: need suggestions for ocd religion reading material

Hi Diamond 😊

I'm a little bit wobbly this week, but doing okay. There has been a bit of upheaval around me (sorry to be vague) but there are just some things that will only work out with time ...

I can relate to your story at a few levels - our situation doesn't revolve around our kids, but it is spilling over onto our kids, and my youngest daughter (D3) is in Year 12. We have been walking close to the border of her not making it to graduation several times across the last three years, and we are standing at that border again now ..,

It's my hubby with the eatin disorder, and we are learning on the go that it is first and foremost an MI. Not only that, he seems to have several forms of it combined, and from the life stories generously shared here, there may be another form of Mi driving this that we have not been aware of for many years. I suspect our line onworkmhas masked it, and perceived success in extreme weight loss and extreme fitness have been masking the ED up till this point. It can't go on much longer without unravelling, so I have set some short term goals to focus in, and hopefully we can at least achieve them ahead of some sort of derailment.

And even that derailment when it happens will ultimately, God willing, be for the good in the longer term, if the outcome is diagnosis, treetment, and support for our family unit.

Stay well. Stay strong. We are in this together experientially ❤

Re: need suggestions for ocd religion reading material

Hi @Fancy_Pants and @Faith-and-Hope
Thank u for putting the effort into googling this!
not a lot of support group in my area and working full time limits my time and limits me from doing a lot of things I would loved to do otherwise to educate myself to help my son!
Anyhow it's a waiting period now till we come to the next stage, trying to keep the peace as much as possible till the assessment!
im hoping the assessment team will have some recommendation for us?
@Faith-and-Hope I hope u have a better week this week:)
