Something’s not right

Need a little help tonight

Need a little help tonight

I’ve had a pretty terrible last couple of weeks. My husband and I had an argument a couple of weeks ago about something that has affected our (to put it bluntly) sex life - something that is a direct connection to my past CSA. I’m still rattled about it.

This argument happened while I was under a huge amount of stress when my mum was in hospital. Moving forward to now and I have now moved in with my mum now she’s out of hossie as she needs round the clock care. I have managed to convince her Dr to drop one of her medications that was giving her hallucinations and now she is essentially going through withdrawals for the last 2 days and refuses to eat or drink - which is a problem in itself as she is diabetic. Tonight I threatened to put her back in hospital so she did eventually eat 1/2 a sandwich.

Today my husband and I had a couples counseling session - and the session was spent talking about that argument. I had to relive the events of the CSA and describe the feelings that it still brought up in me now. I was crying and shaking - I can still see it all like it happened just yesterday, not 40+years ago.

I used to disassociate a lot when I was a child, and through today’s session I’ve learned that I do it a lot as an adult but in a different way.

Tonight I’m feeling very triggered, I feel very shaky inside, I feel like I can’t breathe deeply, I just want to cry but

most of all I feel extremely frightened. I have a particular vision in my head that I just can’t get out. I had to describe that moment from long ago today and now it won’t leave me alone.

Has anyone had any experiences like this, how did you cope with it? I don’t want to sleep tonight, I’m scared of closing my eyes and only seeing this vision.

Re: Need a little help tonight

I will keep you updated on how it goes with Cat tomorrow @Razzle

It will be good for you to have some people around and enjoy their company. You spend so much time alone with your Mum and have had to miss some other social gatherings so this will be nice for you. I hope you have a great time Hon. Enjoy the preparation as well as the BBQ - should keep you out of trouble for the day at least lol

@Zoe7 At least with a bbq I won’t have to cook, the biggest job I’ll have is making the cake - and probably a pav or my brother will never let me hear the

end of it.

Mum has a covered, closed in bbq area out the back of her house which needs a bit of a spruce up which my daughter will help me with Saturday, so I might cook the cake and pav tomorrow and then just decorate them Sat afternoon.

I really am looking forward to it, I guess I have been stuck here for a while.

That all sounds like you have a good plan @Razzle and then can just enjoy the evening on Saturday. A bonus your daughter is coming to help too - between you both you can do the spruce up and get everything ready for the guests. I think it will be really great for you too - some good company, some good food and with little stress to organise it I look forward to hearing how it goes

@Zoe7 We used to have a lot of family bbqs here, especially when my father was alive. It kind of feels like after everything being turned upside down lately that I’ll be doing something “normal”.

Re: Need a little help tonight

@Zoe7 I definitely will. Looks like mums making a move for bed, I best

sort out her antibiotics and I might get an early night myself.

All the the best for Cats appointment, and I hope you can get the garage cleaned up in no time so that you can get back into your painting. ❤️❤️

Re: Need a little help tonight

Hi @Zoe7 . Thanks for checking in. Been a bit flat lately. I’ve jumped on the forums a few times to keep up to date, but have stayed pretty quiet.

I’ve been following your other thread. Glad Toby didn’t have to have any teeth removed, hope Cat is comfortable too and that you are getting lots of cuddles.

Mums memory comes and goes at the

moment. I think for the most part she knows who I am. She seems to remember that this is her house again so that is good. We went to a stage show a couple of nights ago, she still talks about it so that has lodged in her brain somewhere - but ask her what she had for tea last night and she wouldn’t be able to tell you.

Hope you are keeping well ❤️❤️

Re: Need a little help tonight

Cat is outside today as it is not raining and not too windy @Razzle She loves being outside and my back yard is perfect for her. There are plenty of trees and bushes for her to hide under in the warmer weather and she has been sleeping in the dog kennel in the cooler weather. She seems happy and healthy right now - you would not know there was anything wrong with her but I know that will change in time. Of course I am getting plenty of cuddles in with her too ...spending more time in her room with her when she comes in and having extra cuddles before I feed her.

Toby has had half a haircut so he can at least see out of his eyes again. Plan on doing his back half this afternoon because he needs his bone to distract him to do that. Then I am going to give him a bath. I want to get a little more cleaning up done before I do that so all I will have left to do this evening is the vacuuming.

It is really sad about your Mum but good she knows who you are most of the time. It is also good you are still able to do things with her and she has some memory of what you have done. It is super hard seeing someone lose their memory but you are doing everything you cn to help her - just being that constant for her and looking after her is all you can do Hon
