bipolar mania onset

bipolar mania onset

I was diagnosed bipolar1 5 years ago (though probably had it for many years before that untreated) and am really commited to being more stable these days. I also have CPTSD with depression and anxiety being chronic problems. I use meds, CBT and mindfulness techniques as well as trying to keep my diet healthy and have a good sleep routine ..............BUT........ I have not been able to get to the point where I can prevent the onset of hypomania and it doesn't take long for that to escalate into mania or worse (psychosis in the past) and I can stay hyperactive and sleep deprived for many weeks before it passes. It is beginning again at the moment (over the last few days) and I have a wait before I can see my psychiatrist and have my meds adjusted. I'd really appreciate some support and any advice people may have.

Hmmm respect now there's a great avenue for discussion...I don't give my respect away easily and certainly not because of a mere fact of who gave birth to me...some of us may never respect our parents because our parents might have been really crap at it...and some of us may be working on forgiving our parents when they have failed us...or other people in authority..respect oneself, and respect people who you trust...
Just being mindful that many people may have experienced significant lack of respect from people who should have been respectful to them..such as crap parents, crap teachers, principals, Dr's etc.

Respect is hopefully mutual...and many parents are wonderful, as well as loving and kind..just not everyone has experienced positive parenting..

Re: bipolar mania onset

I get it. You are signalling to your parents that you are o.k. That's the way you do it.

That's what they expect. Respect (to be read like I was a homeboy).

I also get being possessed by a 10 year old boy.

Like when i like a woman and I tease her because I don't know how to signal that I like her like a grown-up.

Cars I can understand. Women???

I saw a beautiful 70's Ford Continental today. Sky blue with dark blue trimming. It looked like a boat.

Saw a beautiful purple Ford the other day, in love with its running boards and giant headlights..too gorgeous..but don't think it drives fast, more for cruising at low speeds catching some views..

@kato if you google zentangles you will find lots of links to sites where you find forms to get started with that you can download or print. Often I get my inspiration from these rather than coming up with new ones for myself, tho' I have done that a few times.

Re: bipolar mania onset

Only just saw niknik's post about staying on topic..that is one of the glitches..the delay sometimes in seeing the post..
Zentangles sound very meditative.. I was wondering if other people with bipolar recognise mania onset through their language or actions? Has anyone used a WRAP or an Advanced Statement to assist in their management of mania onset or any other flare-ups in mental health?

Re: bipolar mania onset

I have no plans for Sunday so I am going to google these and see what kind of scribble I can come up with
Thanks @eth
Sorry for getting off topic

Re: bipolar mania onset

I haven't heard of wrap or advenced statement
So I no can't say I have used them.
I usually tell when I am getting manic it almost feels like every muscle in my body is twitching when it isn't
and my ideas and thoughts on things go from small scale erect a tent to skyscraper building
To give you an idea I feel very on edge. This is the first time I have really noticed it but I have never been this affected in the past when I gave been depressed I go comatose affected lol
