Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Well hello to anyone who's discovered this new thread .... and welcome!!!

For some time I've noticed things are a bit quiet on a Saturday, especially in the evening. So this will be a social gathering for all forumites and hopefully a place to relax and meet friends. It's also a place where you can talk about whatever's going on for you at the moment, safely, and find support.

If you want to bring something to eat or drink that would be welcome, whatever makes you happy.

Actually that may be a good place to start - jump in anywhere and let us know one thing that makes you happy - currently or over time.

Really looking forward to finding a posse to hang with on a Saturday.

L E T ' S P A R T Y !!!

@TAB its inspirational what people can do hey? I have seen some incredible recovey stories online over the years. Your Dad sounds like someone who went through a lot. My Dad missed war conscription by just a year. The rest of my uncles and grandfather were in the navy but Dad entered the Air Force. He did some secret ops in Africa. He told me they were based in the Sahara Desert and they would wake hours before dawn and start working most of the day before it got too hot. He didn't mention anything about the Forces due to secrecy. My dad would have been 91

Yeah something like that, Jesse is now broadcasting out of an independent news branch. Yes the WWF was lots of fun. I had forgotten their names but its almost as bad as watching Days of our Lives. But the shows must have had something going for them, mainly a younger audience appeal! I no longer own a TV due to personal choice so wouln't have a clue what is airing. Sometimes at the doctors clinic I've seen Married at First Sight - what a shocking show!!! Talk about playing risky business with other peoples lives. Well that gets ratings because of the shock factor. I think TV was better in the 80's by what I've casually seen - A Country Practice, The Sullivans. I really used to like Sea Change (that came later) but the programming had a lot more going for it than the junky stuff now

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

@TAB yes. People like your Dad from that era were tough and resilient people. They came here in the hope of a better life. My Dad just emigrated on a boat and so did my mother. My Dad was from Kent in the UK and Mum from Belgrade from the foremer Yugoslavia. There was nothing in Australia when they got here - its only been in the last 30 years that we have had more of an influx of culture

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

@TAB oh dear! Well these things can and do happen, its just trying to cover it up in an era where things like that were frowned upon thats the problem. Today its different but what you do in the bygone days was a major issue...
