Yesterday I had a catch up with my writing buddy for a few hours and then went to the launch of an exhibition my sil has some stuff in with my bro. I actually drove by myself to pick him up on my familiar back street route and then inadvertently found myself (driving alone to get home) on one of the major roads into town. Put me on high anxiety alert but I managed to get home in one piece. I don't like traffic at the best of times, had to merge right at one point which I also don't like, but what I've been fearing didn't happen. It's quite common for high anxiety to reduce peripheral awareness and I was prepared to pull over if I needed to but I did it! It's a major milestone for me, tho I doubt I'll do it again any time soon. Even when I'm accompanied by a support worker I avoid the big busy roads as much as possible.

@Mazarita tagging you here too so I don't have to type this again. Also you might not know about this thread, which I started a bit over 18 months ago, while I was a community guide. All are welcome and it tends to flow on beyond Saturday quite often. Have a look at page 1 for a bit about the intention for it if you're interested. Since I stepped down as CG I don't kick it off very often and am always happy to see people hanging out here. And tagging each other.

Hi @eth most times I think am a good driver, but sometimes in past have got a bit nervy, well over nothing and was glad to get home. thats despite having driven in city after not driving for months , doing nullabor like 20x etc , sometimes things just get to you

Alc no good. suffered from meds for days, started to clear up then it was like nothing had ever happened , same old same old, went out for food, bit stinky thinking, drove past shop to bottlo and havent looked back since. was really p'd off at myself, just dealing with aftermath now. have appt w GP in few days, no more 'I have decided' bravado lol Wishing hadnt blabbed all over that was doing it now, just felt had it under control. Well didnt. Next time will keep it to myself lol

@TAB no pressure here, just wanting to support you no matter what choices you are making. If it's safe to share anywhere it's on the forums. At least that's what I think. There's a diagram about recovery I'll try to find for you. Relapses are not something you should be judged for. Only those who've lived with addiction should comment imo.

I think it's equally relevant to learning to live without the substance you're addicted to. Again, I do not judge you in any way. You have not failed, you have begun the journey. It took me 3 years to kick mine for good.

guess I assume I'm not the only one who thinks look like a bit of a goose now @eth lol and the meds thing as well, sheese, could have done that same amount of time on no meds lolz Thanks anyway, you're very kind. I prob should ask after rehab/groups again, all too public here need to do in big city. One day. Anyhoo. Thanks again.
