Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Well hello to anyone who's discovered this new thread .... and welcome!!!

For some time I've noticed things are a bit quiet on a Saturday, especially in the evening. So this will be a social gathering for all forumites and hopefully a place to relax and meet friends. It's also a place where you can talk about whatever's going on for you at the moment, safely, and find support.

If you want to bring something to eat or drink that would be welcome, whatever makes you happy.

Actually that may be a good place to start - jump in anywhere and let us know one thing that makes you happy - currently or over time.

Really looking forward to finding a posse to hang with on a Saturday.

L E T ' S P A R T Y !!!

And of course the beverage of your choice.

EDIT : Do feel free to contribute some music too. Of any style. The more the merrier ...

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Going 30 km for shopping @Shaz51

That's a day's outing - I hope you can get it done closer - it has to be hard for Mr Shaz if he has to drive that far all the time

I live in Suburban Melbourne and have several supermarkets with the 5 km the lock down demands - and a Food Works on the corner - they have great dimsims - very expensive fresh food though

So - I have found it to be torture getting in and out of the back seat of taxis or my support workers' cars so I got a letter from my doctor last night saying I need to travel in the front seat and - ah - so good - I find it so much easier to get in and out of the front seat - my joints are getting stiff in my old age - and there is just not enough room for my long legs - which is why I travel business class in planes

I'm ranting - I really like flying and can we do this before the middle of next year? I really hope so

Still ranting - bring on the vaccine -

btw Shaz - will you be able to have the vaccine when it finally gets here

Dec

Yes - bring it on

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Hi @Shaz51 @Owlunar @MDT @Bunniekins @Adge and to you too @Judi9877 (this is where you'll find me on the weekend - all are welcome to this thread).

Thanks heaps for all the tagging @Shaz51 - no-one does it like you do xx If I had been shopping for 2 homes and that far away that would be enough for one day. Have a good bit of down time.

I've finished the piece I was writing and emailed it out for feedback so that feels good. Had a short nap too and may just have another one.

Hope your bloke turns up @Adge it's so frustrating waiting - can you ring him to see what's happening?

@Owlunar I too hope we'll be able to fly again in the future, very much so. Good that you got the letter from your doc about riding up front in cars. That will be much better for you.

Meals-on-Wheels @Shaz51

Aw - I hope you can cook for as long as you want to - and after you have had your kidney transplant it will be so much easier for you -

I have had a serve from the council and also subsidized meals through a couple of different outlets and I want to do my own cooking and have managed so far - I found one place couldn't use enough caulflower and I cannot stand that stuff - and it was in nearly every meal - so I asked them if they could leave it off my dinner - which they did - but didn't add something else in it's place

Worse than that - the dinner still smelled like cauliflower

Okay I am fussy - broccoli is a social disgrace - it looks so pretty and I wish I could enjoy it but I don't like it at all - which means I could eat it but don't - I hope they find a way of genetically engineering it to taste like chocolate - that would be so great

mm - yes - body unfriendly transport - I found getting myself in and out of the back seat a nightmare - I needed to be a contortionist - with my long legs and still knee, back and shoulder -

I was reading some medical paperwork and I think that when people on my level of insurance need to pay for the prothesis when they have joint replacement - this is something I will have to check on - I might need my knee and my shoulder replaced - I think I need to know what they will cost

I think it's a lot

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Hi @eth

It's good to see you here - I don't often get in here - in fact for several weeks this winter I didn't get on line much at all - I had a fall in May and had the procedure to ease the pain at the end of July and I didn't do much at all for two and a half months - so perhaps it was good that the lockdown and the torn shoulder tendon happened in the same winter

It's taking time to get back to walking - but I have two days in a row now and I should do it again soon.

I am so looking forward to another trip to Cairns - I went two years in a row and someone asked me if it was a yearly event and I decided it was - and I want to see my grand-daughter on the Sunshine Coast - she has met a significant other and I want to meet him too - so maybe I will go to Maroochydoor and fly back to Brisbane and then up to Cairns - then back to Melbourne straight through - which is a complicated itinery but seeing as I miss this year - let's get the tourism industry moving again

Why not have another nap Eth - I slept in this morning - and I have been waking up earlier during the week so it was good until I realised I had to get a script filled today - but I had a walk and got the script at the same time - two for two

All the best - I hope you are as well as you can be
