Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Well hello to anyone who's discovered this new thread .... and welcome!!!

For some time I've noticed things are a bit quiet on a Saturday, especially in the evening. So this will be a social gathering for all forumites and hopefully a place to relax and meet friends. It's also a place where you can talk about whatever's going on for you at the moment, safely, and find support.

If you want to bring something to eat or drink that would be welcome, whatever makes you happy.

Actually that may be a good place to start - jump in anywhere and let us know one thing that makes you happy - currently or over time.

Really looking forward to finding a posse to hang with on a Saturday.

L E T ' S P A R T Y !!!

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Hi @TAB and @MDT I had a lovely trip mostly, hanging out and helping with my 5yo and 11mo grandchildren. Baby still needs a lot of lifting, nappies etc which my adult child has been unable to do since major surgery (double mastectomy). So all that was fun except for some of the nappies! Really loved hanging out with my 5yo granddaughter - we had some great laughs. And lovely to see my adult child so much happier after the surgery. But it was also a bit intense at times taking care of dressings etc and seeing my adult child's scars. They are healing quickly thank goodness.

Also had a bad afternoon on an outing with the local support agency I accessed when down there. Really bad. Knocked me for six, then I had no time to process what went down and how far it set me back until I came home last night. Will be doing a formal complaint about it for sure. 1 baby support worker with 3 of us (2 men and me, all with MH issues - I'm usually female only because of past experiences - nothing personal to you guys) and 1 of the men misbehaved and she had to chase him and leave me alone with the other guy and then he flared right up when he was taken home. Thought he was being taken to hospital. Freaked me out. I had 4 panic attacks in the course of 2 1/2 hours. Not at all what I went out for. I cried all the way back to where I was staying, 40 mins away. It was meant to be a meditation walk at a river in a nearby town that I'd never been to. Sounded safe enough, but it f'n wasn't.

Enough about that.

How are you guys doing?

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Hi @Former-Member I'm a massage therapist (not working now but did for 28 years). I used to do freebies in a student clinic too, as well as some really interesting volunteer placements - an aboriginal womens refuge, a teenage drop-in drug clinic in Kings Cross, and iron man events up and down the east coast. I learned so much from all of the above. Happy to hear you are feeling the benefits without major expense. When I started it was only $25 per hour anyway, these days at least $90. I just feel that with my own health challenges it's not right for other people to put their health in my hands. Not good for me. But I still always say yes to family and friends who ask. And don't charge anything. Thank goodness I kept my massage table when I moved here. I culled over 30 cubic metres of possessions and all my furniture from a 2br flat I was in for 11 years that was chockers so that I could move into a one room cabin my bro built for me in his back yard. So that I could have family support. There's not a lot of that which I regret leaving, just books and artefacts mostly.
