Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Well hello to anyone who's discovered this new thread .... and welcome!!!

For some time I've noticed things are a bit quiet on a Saturday, especially in the evening. So this will be a social gathering for all forumites and hopefully a place to relax and meet friends. It's also a place where you can talk about whatever's going on for you at the moment, safely, and find support.

If you want to bring something to eat or drink that would be welcome, whatever makes you happy.

Actually that may be a good place to start - jump in anywhere and let us know one thing that makes you happy - currently or over time.

Really looking forward to finding a posse to hang with on a Saturday.

L E T ' S P A R T Y !!!

And of course the beverage of your choice.

EDIT : Do feel free to contribute some music too. Of any style. The more the merrier ...

Welcome!!!

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

It's completely natural to be worried @MDT, it means you care. Do you have some plans to distract yourself tomorrow?

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

@MDT hey, think it may be good to be a bit nervous at work. It makes us more cautious and thorough. But you will enjoy it after half hour or so when you settle into it. Good luck.

@MDT

Yum roast beef way to go.

No matter how big or small the anxiety will flare up with a new job.

I went to an anxiety workshop recently. They said that the emotions are exactly the same as when ur excited however ur brain says its scary.

They said the trick is the moment u feel the anxiety rise u count 5 4 3 2 1 & then say im excited.

It apparently does something in ur frontal brain that prevents u from getting totally anxious & out of control.

I was doing it recently when i started to teach exercise cause i could feel the anxiety risjng.

Apparently theres a 10sec gap.

Anyway thats what i learnt from a psychologist

Hope it works for u

@MDT

Its supposedly tricks the brain into thinking ur excited & not scared.

If u find it useful spread the word.

Mel Robbins is the psychologist that teaches this.

yeah @Former-Member

Sometimes I just disassociate too. Separate the raw feeling from the reality.

Or look at it differently too - so for example this is a paid job and i get money to save up and buy stuff I want.

It's also the first step I need. Not the final frontier, but just the start I needed.

@MDT

I guess a way for u to take charge rather than the emotions just let rip roar as they do.

Google it. Its something about the front section of the brain that flips down once u say it that allows the reasoning section to operate. So u remain thinking logically & not overconsumed by just ur emotions.

I think thats how it works.

Cause one side of the brain is more logical & one side is more emotional i think.

It keeps u linked with both i guess ill have to read up on it myself.

Its a simple technique tho but must b done immediately the moment u feel the anxiety

@MDT

Starting back working is hard! Im going thru that stage now.

I said that technique over & over out loud as i drove to my first teaching job

Ul get there. Each time will b less & then it gradually goes away

Its all deep rooted fears which cant really hurt us.

I think this technique does work tho to help u stay in the present at least. U still have to walk thru the emotions but in a grounded way. So ur not dissassociating which is such a spaced out feeling.

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Sounds interesting @Former-Member . I'll follow that up online. I've had a quiet day today, trying to rest and get over a cold. Watching stuff on iview and TV. Got interested in a show called Dark Money where a child actor is molested by the Hollywood producer and the family is given 3 million dollars hush money. Turns out to be a disastrous way to go...Found it quite good.
