Something’s not right

nothing changes

nothing changes

Everything is just on top of me at the moment... it seems like everything is happening on top of each other to make it harder and harder.. from my work computer going kaputt with all my work stuff on it.. to my vacuum cleaner not working properly.. to some problems at work and bills for court costs... and thats on top of trying to survive a 'normal' day. im exhausted and theres so little that i've got any control over but have to find solutions for that just arent possible. my youngest has special needs (reactive attachment disorder/autism) and has gotten overwhelmed with the start of school this term and so he is imploding and on top of that he's sick with a gastro bug. i cant seem to help anything, everything i do is wrong in everything. i'm exhausted in every way and cant sleep either. im so scared to talk to anyone because of the family court stuff... im so tired of this struggle.. ive been here so many times.. and life gets harder and just comes back around to be like this.. get through one family court thing and theres another hearing in a few months.. fix one thing and theres 10 more

Re: nothing changes

Hi @Former-Member, I'm so sorry to hear that things have got on top of you. You're such a warm and supportive soul in the Forums - and I'm sure in life too - so it's great that you can reach out for support as well as give it.

When you list out all the things you're dealing with at the moment I'm not at all surprised that you feel that way. You've got a huge amount on - even when everything is going smoothly - with the kids, work, home, court and your health. Add a couple of unforseen challenges and it must seem impossible.

Can I give you some advice that I'm sure you'd give others in this situation? Firstly, remember that this is temporary. You are incredibly strong to be living the life you do. A survivor in the best sense of that word. But even the strongest amongst us have moment where we don't feel that way. We lose sight of it. But we who have been following your story know that it's true. You have many admirers here in the Forums.

The other thing is to break it down. What is essential today? Life-won't-go-on-without-doing-it essential? That's all you need to worry about when you feel this low. The rest can and will wait. Some deep breaths, food on the table, hugs for the kids. Maybe that's all that you need to do today?

tomorrow you might feel a little better to take on some more. Or maybe not. The essentials will be okay until things change.

Please take care of yourself lisajane. You're one of life's good uns

Re: nothing changes

@Former-Member,

Have you thought of visiting vinnies, the smith family or a mens shed, they might be able to help you out with a new vacumn and help out with other things too, i know how things can snowball and life just seems to suck you down, i know how scared yu are with the court stuff but if you are struggling and overwhelmed you need to reach out for help. it is ok to not be able to "do it all" people put on a brave face but their are many people out their in the same situation @Former-Member, sometimes pride can also get in the way, asking for help is sometimes the hardest thing we can do.

Gentle hugs @Former-Member, maybe it is time to seek advice from your psychologist or treating team to see what options you have.

Good luck and i am sending you well wishes, you are an amazing person.

Jacques

Here for you @Former-Member

Is there any small self-care strategy you can use to look after yourself right now?

Take care,

thank you for hearing and understanding @eth , @Shimmer, @Jacques and @Former-Member

I just feel like everything is about to fall apart.. my life is kind of like a house of cards and even if theres only a slight breeze coming up it starts to wobble and shake.. and right now im trying to hold each card upright against a gale and if i let one piece go the whole world will come crashing down. most of all im terrified im going to lose my kids. the courts are so unfair when it comes to mental illness... despite there never having been a concern from anyone in my treating team about my parenting or their safety with me ever.. never been a child protection report done.. never had an issue at work around my ability to care for or attend to the needs of the children i work with.. my ex can continually raise my mental health in family court as an issue. i now have to report to the court every time i have an appointment and they can check that I attend.. which is ridiculous because ive been trying so hard to get better and have sought out the help for myself that i've needed but now its as though im being punished for it... and even though my psychologist is saying she is supportive and thinks there's no issue with my parenting i feel so vulnerable and exposed to have everything is think and feel discussed so much so i feel this massive pressure to be 'better' and not have these problems. but im burned out and falling apart. tonight im just hoping that my lil boy is a bit better and there's no more vomiting and that he has a better day tomorrow.. being out of routine just being sick is really hard for him and he's had tantrums all day which is just more exhausting for him. i just want him to sleep through the night tonight and i want to sleep with no nightmares and for longr than an hour at a time. im so exhausted. i am going to do my work notes for tomorrow's teacher and then im going to do some colouring.

Gentle hugs,

I have been in the same situation where everything has been falling apart around me, it will get better @Former-Member, just take each moment as it comes, stay in the present.

Hi again @Former-Member it's good that you can let it all out here and you are safe to share. I wish I could help more about the court and reporting stuff.

Hoping your little guy is feeling better by now and that you all get some sleep later. I really agree with the advice to just focus on doing what is essential from moment to moment and think doing some colouring for a break from it all is a great idea. Thinking of you 🙂

Re: nothing changes

@Former-Member thank you for always being so supportive of everyone here in the forums. I know you can tackle them one by one, if you face them that way it wouldnt be so heavy, like carrying grocery bags one at a time it may take slower but it is definitely easier 🙂 HUGS! Xx

Re: nothing changes

My vacuum stopped working too @Former-Member I think I may have thrown a small part out that the bag sits and without the car, it was just too big to go to shop to fix ... so I let it ride for 4 month. Eventually I started sweeping my loverly creamy coloured carpet with a sturdy garden broom. It surprised my son as it actually did the job. Its still on my to-do list as is replacing the oven. Its life. There will be plain sailing days, and days when everything goes bung. Did you hear about poor @Shaz51 with the ute and hearing aid. Dont let them beat you. If you cant manage it today ... there IS always tomorrow. Dont worry if you put off things for a while. Too many of us are perfectionists and get our knickers in a knot. You can do it girl, though I know you are in a rotten situation. You can prevail.
