Anxiety taking over

Anxiety taking over

Hi, I'm feeling very overwhelmed by my anxiety atm. I'm trying to keep control of it. But it feels horrible and it's really not a nice place to be. I feel like I'm shaking inside and I wish it would just go away. I thought coming on here and expressing how I'm feeling might help to relieve it. Why is anxiety so bad and so hard to control? It eats away at you and controls your every move. I tried to sleep it off but I couldn't stop my mind from over thinking. So I'm going to do some colouring in and maybe right down some inspirational quotes to help me calm down.

We're so sorry to hear that you are struggling with your anxiety @Learninggrowing. Your description of it eating away at you is so spot on. What are some of your favourite inspirational posts?

Here's one for you - "Every day may not be a good day, but there is good in every day"

Thank you for taking the time to listen and respond to me.

I do love inspirational quotes and one of my favorites is

'Nothing is permanent, don't stress because no matter how bad a situation is, it will change'

It's funny cos I like these quotes ,but I don't put them into my everyday life.

That is also a great quote @Learninggrowing, there's so many around that it would be impossible to try and live by them all! I like to think that you find the ones that you need to put a smile on your face at that certain time. Have you been colouring in this afternoon?

Yes that is a good point which I will tell myself. There is no pressure to be expected to live by these quotes, but take what u can from them at the time.

I haven't started my colouring in yet. But I have Origami paper and would like to write down some of my favorite quotes on them and place them in places I will see thought out the house. That's who I am and I find this helps. My partner has also been supportive and checking in on me and I'm very lucky and grateful for that.

I'm feeling much much better than what I was earlier. Such a relief to be able to breath again. Thank you so much

My pleasure @Learninggrowing! You're not alone in having quotes around the home but not always living up to them The origami paper and quotes around the house sounds lovely

Re: Anxiety taking over

Hello @Learninggrowing good to see you here, though I'm sorry anxiety is hard right now. I like what you said about impermenance and things always changing. That helps me too. Most of my life I have tried to fight against things, including anxiety. The worse it got, the harder I fought, but I'm starting to realise that the struggle can be counterproductive. Reading 'Living with It' and 'The Happiness Trap' helped me a lot. When I'm in the thick of it slowing down my outbreaths and trying to keep busy with methodical tasks can help. Just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and hope you have a good sleep (or at least some good sleep!)

@LearninggrowingThank you for posting 🙂 Have u tried smiling mind app- you can put it on your mobile. I've never been able to sit and listen to something like this, with this smiling mind I have been to do the relaxation/meditation. I highly recommend it. Sometimes their can be a physical cause for anxiety- thyroid, hormones etc. When I am overwhelmed I look inward that helps me and when I start to better I look outside- basically you go back to basics and it takes the pressure off. We have got you.

Hi @frog

Anxiety is so hard to manage and it can make life hard for you. I am glad you have found books to help and get ideas on how to manage anxiety. For me I like to go back to basics and take the pressure off myself. But I often use a combination of strategies to help and to ground myself. Have you tried smiling mind- you're able to put it on your phone- I highly recommed it.

Re: Anxiety taking over

Thank you for your reply. Yes I believe hormones are playing a big part in my anxiety. They are not an easy fix unfortunately. But knowing it's something to work on and taking a great natural supplement has helped in the past, so I should get back on track with that. I just get so exhausted from the anxiety, it's hard to feel like a normal person and simply take the steps to help myself. But I'm not going to get anywhere if I don't push thru and find that strength
