It does not matter if I have had a busy weekend or a lazy weekend , but when sunday afternoon comes -- I am low, depressed and down , can`t get off the lounge .

could it being anxious about starting a new week ??

Re: Anxious Sundays

Hi Shaz51

Maybe this can help you -

My daughter was suffering anxiety about going to school each day (long story behind it). I put together a gift bag for her that I keep in the boot of the car. Into it I throw items from sale bins that appeal to her. It might be a lip gloss, a Freddo Frog, a hair clip, a greeting card, a fancy or funny pen, etc. I have also put the odd bigger ticket item in there, like a movie pass, or pedicure at a nail bar. Each day when she gets to school, she has to take something out of the bag, as a treat for turning up, late or not. If she is faced with a test that day, or handing in a late assignment, or something that ups her anxiety level, she will reach for the bigger ticket item to help her over the hump.

The point is to overturn the negative association she has made with attending school, and replace it with a pleasure response of some sort. It's no secret. We discussed it before hand, and with her completely in the know about the objective, it has still worked.

Whatever the cause of your negative association with Sunday afternoons, maybe you can work out a plan to consciously over-ride it, and reclaim your day.

Be well.

Re: Anxious Sundays

Hi @Shaz51, you and your hubby can help test one of my theories. I figure that how you feel on your birthday relfects how you feel about your life generally. And how you feel on Sunday night reflects how you feel about your working life. So when I'm beset with angst about turning a year older, generally all is not well in my world. And when I get a case of 'Sunday night blues' it means that something needs to be sorted in my worklife. Sometimes that's getting a different job and sometimes it's just tweaking a particular aspect of my work.

If I remember correctly you and your husband work together and are self-employed. How are you finding this? Do you enjoy what you're doing? How much stress is involved?

I really like @Faith-and-Hope's suggestion about re-claming your sunday. If there is no easy fix to your working life (if indeed that's the problem) then this is a great stategy. You're pretty resourceful. Are there things you've already tried?

Thank you @Faith-and-Hope, @Former-Member

I find it depends on how much work we have for the week, it comes around in cycles ,

so i try to just have our regular jobs written down for the week , saying no to any new jobs

the weather has a huge affect on our weeks

There's a lot of past and future in your husbands statement @Shaz51. How is he feeling about what's happening right now?

Hi @Former-Member

I am thinking that all this is , he has stopped taking the old meds which the local doctor told him to do and start the new meds which are not working

I am sure this is what it is because two nights now he is starting to have restless nights , and he said he took awhile to get to sleep

we have rang the MI worker, so we can talk to the MI doctor but she has not rang back

He would go back on the old meds which really helped him so much but doesn`t like the side affects

the old self is coming back , I know what to expect but i wished i had more MI support

Re: Anxious Sundays

A medication change is hugely disruptive so you're probably right. Add to that the exhaustion of a big day and it's no surprise that things feel bleak. Has your husband given the new meds enough time to reach a therapeutic dose? If not, he might be advised to wait a little longer before switching again.
