My Story
My Story. I have the daily challenge of depression and anxiety, due mainly to the trragic loss of my
beloved partner some 5 years ago. Each day brings memories of the good times we spent together,
totalling some 15 years. We both were challenged by depressive moods but were able to support each
other with this debilitating mental health problem. Now, being left to fend for oneself becomes an even
bigger 'ask' and task. I take some comfort from my spiritual beliefs and the beauty of nature, be it a
spectacular sunset or hinterland scenery. Anxiety and depression have less stigma than a decade or
more ago as more and more people are beset with stressful life conditons and the changing pace of
everyday life.
As I grow into senior years, I realise how important friends and family play a huge part in keeping
one's balance in life's ever changing scenarios. I also think for those who feel embarrassed or stigmatised by their mental health issues, that it is a case of those who matter don't mind and those who
mind, don;t matter. Somewhat of a paradox but true in theory. May I wish each Forum member, newly
joined (as myself) or the more seasoned contributor, peace, health and harmony as we meet this 'fellow
traveller' of depression/anxiety head on. What often can't be cured can be endured. Good luck on your
particular journey. Bimby2
