I always stuff up

I always stuff up

I'm hopeless
I just never learn
There's no point
I stuff up and I'm no good
It's always my fault
It sucks
My head is telling me to go away
I can't believe how stupid I am
Why can't I just be normal whatever that is
Gosh I'm angry grrrrrr
Need to stop before I do something stupid
I can't do this

Wise words @Sahara.

How are you doing @BlueBay? I echo what @Sahara has said, and want also want to say please be gentle and kind to yourself. Blame and self-criticism can swallow you up. We all have behaved in ways that we're ashamed of at some point in our lives. Take it as life's teachings. We are not immuned to making mistakes - even several times, over again, throughout our lives. The important thing here is to not loose hope and sight of the potential for us to change things right now.

** hugs to you @BlueBay **

Re: I always stuff up

Hi @Sahara

Thank you so much for your reply. I have actually written letters to my husband before when I have been so depressed and wanted him to know. I was thinking after I read your post that maybe i could write another letter to him.

I do want to cry but can't release my tears now because my family are home. But tomorrow morning I am having accupuncture done and I feel I may release some tears there. The guy I see is very caring and he will be okay with me letting out my emotions.

I worry so much that one day my husband will leave me or I will run away because of my anxiety and depression and my thoughts. I just need to work out what the hell I want. It's so hard at times. Gee I so want to cry.

I always take things seriously and personally to heart, always thinkng people must really hate me.

Im just so screwed up. 😞

Re: I always stuff up

@BlueBay - we tell ourselves such utter terrible things, if we said these things out loud to someone else we would call it emotional abuse. I try to catch the ratty run of unhelpful thinking and substitute it with activity and coming into the present. that helps shift the self-hate monologue.

Hi @MoonGal

Trouble is with me is that I notice what I have done a while later, not when I am in 'that state'. Again this morning I have been such a real b**ch and I just want to be left alone.

I think writing it down will help me. I tend to write quite a bit and when feeling really bad I can write pages and pages.

That self hate monologue gets to me all the time. I am nicer to my friends; if only i could be nice to myself. I do distract myself with going out in the garden or a walk (which is what i may do soon) down the beach.

Re: I always stuff up

@BlueBay, yeah it takes a while to get to the point of being able to catch your own thinking, but it is doable. (Sometimes if not all the time). If you practice having a higher self - someone one who is the bigger you who looks after your wellbeing, you can practice prompting yourself to check in with your thinking. What am I thinking now? Is it helpful? Yes - continue. No - drop it and substitute the thought with a strong substitute.

My strong substitute is coming into the present with conscious thought. I actually do this physical action where I point with both hands suddenly into NOW/HERE. A movement that primes my brain to switch into the present. (Looks do lally tat but works)

Seeing/looking - "what is in front of me, naming the objects - there is the bookshelf, there is the framed painting, their is the television, there is the pattern on the rug.

Hearing/listeining: hearing really brings us into the now) - what can I hear? There is a car reving, there is some magpies warbling, there is a plane far off.

Physical sense/feeling. What we can feel, there is the feel of my top on my skin, there is the too tight heel on my shoe. There is the tast of my coffee, there is the drag of my cigarette.

They are all coming into the present/now with purpose and it is a huge distraction for the broken record of self hatred. Doesn;t take long to do it, just needs to be long enough to jump the groove of the self-hate monologue. Then get on with something else.

Re: I always stuff up

I have been following this thread and don't know if this is the right place to contribute. I can empathise with @BlueBay in many ways. I have a similar diagnosis but with another personality disorder as well. I guess I'm wondering how do you know that you are moving forward with everything. I have been so stuck for so long sometimes I lose seeing the light at the end. I have had a really difficult week and ended up on lifeline 3 times this week. I'm not sure how to keep going when I stuff up so much and then struggle to find the motivation to keep going. I am feeling so guilty and am not being a very good mum right now. Being a mum is supposed to be enough to keep you fighting and doing the very best for your children but I'm failing at this so badly at the moment. I am writing this looking for advice on how to pull through when you can't see a future.

Cheers,

Teej

Re: I always stuff up

Hi @Former-Member - Welcome to the forums, sounds like you are doing it really tough at the moment and really worried about how good a mum you are being while you are wobbly.

This is a good place to get support. I have seen your post - but others who can engage with you and add their support might not as it is in a thread by @BlueBay (and we have been discussing her thoughts) if you started a new conversation by going here: http://mentalas.saneforums.org/t5/Our-experience-stories/bd-p/le-forum-0001

And pressing the blue New Discussion button, others in the forum may see your post and chime in with welcomes and their own lived experience too.

The moderators @CherryBomb, @NikNik and @Former-Member (and others) also help out with acknowledgement and some pointers on who else around the forums have experienced similar things.

Most important of all, if you are here and calling lifeline you are doing something good for yourself, keep on keeping on and hope you find some guidance and help soon.

Hi @BlueBay.

I'm so sorry I crashed your thread. I just want to say that I wish you all the best in working out your relationship with your husband. Your thread really struck a chord with me both with connecting with your situation and the advice given. And thanks for the warm welcome too😊

Hi @MoonGal

thanks for the heads up. The truth is I think I'm too chicken to start my own thread. Maybe when I'm a bit more confident I will. Thanks for the support too.

cheers,

teej😊
