Loneliness

Loneliness

I’m interested if anyone loneliness has as big as impact as it does in my life. I’m not close with my family and don’t have any friends. I don’t feel there is anyone who is there for me to reach out to. It is a very painful experience to say the least. How do others deal with this?

Re: Loneliness

@Bentpole-01 it is so hard when dealing with traumas of family.Mine lasted twenty five years. It was daily struggles just for emotional survival. Also hard to see way out with repeated downward moods and trauma, questioning self if bad person.

I feel good this afternoon and hoping to come out of the mess after twenty five years.

Hope you will work through yours too.

One day all would be easier and happier.

Re: Loneliness

@frog Thanks for post. I find loneliness hardest ,there is no emotional nourishment or support. I go to groups. They are ok and pass the time. But there is no one who I can call or meet with who will know me and I will know her/him and get a buzz from contact.

My mum has been my great support for years I was deep illness. Now she is very elderly, losing body function and mind.

I don’t know how to manage my life from this point.

May be like you say, with time pass, things get better.

Re: Loneliness

After I made this post I realised the wording didn’t make sense but everyone seems to understand what I was trying to say. I am experiencing high levels of anxiety at the moment and during this time I struggle to string sentences together. It’s even worse face to face. I forget the simplest of words and it just makes the anxiety worse. When I see my psychologist I talk to her about joining groups and volunteering. I take the ideas on board but when I get home I ruminate about it and I know especially at the moment my default thoughts are all the things that could go wrong. I’m using skills I’ve learned throughout my therapy to try to quiet this critical self but I can’t shift my focus or distract myself for long enough to keep it at bay.

@Rilakkuma @Bentpole-01 @outlander @frog @Shaz51 @MDT

It is hard when down in the hole a bit. Forum so important for support, acceptance and connection. Exercise is important, it can shift the mood. I also find look online for strategies to cope, reading about it helpful. It takes time, bits of help eventually will lift and shift to a better place.

Like @frog said --- Keep looking for the little wins @Rilakkuma , @Meowmy xx

@Rilakkuma I find it hard sometimes to write down what I am thinking

I was mentally and emotionally abused when I was young by my dad, before mum and I left and it still think it affects me still

Re: Loneliness

@Shaz51 It is so hard when we were born to difficult parents. It took me many years to come to this. I have learnt through a lot of sad, painful processes to forgive what my father did to me. Now I feel relieved and much less troubled by my past with my father.

I can look to future and work on my own mental issues.

Hope you will find the same closure with childhood.

Re: Loneliness

@Shaz51 @frog Thanks for advise and care. I find it so helpful that I can express my struggles fully and get support and listening ears.

I went for a swim and pushed myself a touch. I didn’t break down in melting overwhelming distress I probably would normally.

A small win!

Thanks again.
