Hello @hanami ❤

Mum is still in lots of pain and the OT came today to see if she can make a cuppa by herself

I think it is going to be hard when we are away for over 6 hours every day

They are keeping her in hospital this week

And she and the OT are having a home visit to see how she goes

Too hard too early

Oh @Shaz51

That's going to be tough for sure being away 6 hours of the day. Why does life have to test us out like this 😥

The OT will be great for her though. I imagine you are thinking it will be just one step at a time at this stage. Too much to consider all at once. Thinking of you all, Shaz, Mr Shaz and Mum Shaz.

How did the covid tests go? Negative?

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Covid test was negative 😃 at the moment @hanami

Looks like we will have to buy a lift bed and a lift chair for mum at home

Hope we can get these before she comes home but she is having other problems due to the pain medication they are giving her

That is a lot of money @hanami , @Emelia8

And she has a lift chair that she will not use already

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

I know , it is just soo hard @hanami

I think I need to tell the doctor that she needs hospital care more than I can give her but I feel soo bad and guilty if I do and I know she will be angry , have to get her sister to talk to her

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Feeling for you @Shaz51 . It's hard when you're making this sort of decision to get beyond blaming yourself for whatever you decide. It sounds as though the hospital is doing the right thing by not rushing and by keeping your mum in care for at least another week. Getting her pain meds right is important particularly with her other conditions. Dad had a fear of abandonment a couple of times and that was soo hard but I kept visiting and reassuring him and we pushed past it and he came home when he was well enough (this was before he went into care.)

Have you looked into what aged care places or respite might be available if/when your mum needs it? It might be appropriate to do some contingency planning. Dad had decided he liked the place my aunty was living in and it was local and ticked the other boxes so when the time came it was an easy decision. Of course, sale of the house etc followed soon after.

The most important thing atm is to have confidence in yourself that yes, you're thinking about your mum's best interests and your own capacity to help her - and yourself and mr shaz. Keep talking to hospital staff, My Aged Care and local aged care providers, it will all help...

Hugs

Re: Not sure what to do !!!

Thank you @Dimity

My aunty ( mum's sister ) thinks she should stay in hospital and have ongoing care

Or to get a carer to come while we are a work for 4 to 6 hours daily during the week

It is a hard decision to make and mum listens more to her sister than me
