Not sure what to do !!!

@Determined, @Shaz51, I don't think it's intended as heartless- it is however intrusive.
I could imagine she's thinking how hard it was putting together a funeral, and maybe wants to take some pressure off "whenever it happens" by having one typical aspect prepared well in advance. But it's not her call to do that, even if it is well meant.
My sister and I have made sure we have family photos to hand for "whenever". But that's us, and it's not something everyone would or should do.

Hi @Shaz51 I totally understand your shock but we have similar in place for our Mum.

We gave her a big 80th party and all her friends came on their wheelie walkers and they took home party bags of left overs after being served tea and coffee by a family member who is a QANTAS flight attendant. I gave a speech and we did a slide show. Mother is now 91 but she had a big height tea in her garden for her 90th. I updated her 80th speech and we added some photos while the same (since retired) flight attendant served tea on good China from best silverware.

All will need updating when she turns 100!!

I also remember Diana’s funeral was the plan for the Queen mother so it’s not unusual to plan ahead but needs to be done with sensitivity. I’ve told Mum she’s now heard me give her eulogy twice! It’s goid to think about these things and not left to that horrible few days between passing and funeral as I did with H.

@Eve7, my sister printed out a bunch of photos for our Mum's 80th birthday. Between her and a bunch of her long-time friends, we found out a few family stories we wouldn't have heard otherwise. 🙂

@Smc It’s good to celebrate those milestone birthdays while they’re alive. My mother told us stories about the local bookmaker collecting bets from everyone.

It is always a good idea to go softly in the world - your cousin wants to be included but let it be for your mother's 90th birthday - celebrate her life while she is still here to enjoy it - that's what I would like

I think the lock down is less severe where you are - and it would wonderful to have a party - would it ever -

I wish I could come - I know that's not possible but how great it would be
