Exo's Exposé

Exo's Exposé

Looking for somewhere to hide in the Forum, no offense to anyone, I'm just kinda used to my own space - it feels safer to me. I often feel like I'm 'butting in' on other threads, I want to say something but it isn't 'in-line' with the current flow of conversation.

It rained here yesterday, dogs & cats weren't falling from the sky, but the grounds wet, there's puddles in my driveway & it's soooooooo sooooooo much cooler 😄 Guru Google even promises more!! After this weird wet stuff stopped dropping from above, I took the dogs for their walk, I do this almost every afternoon, but after a storm with close lightning strikes, my main purpose is to check the fence is still upright everywhere. I'm happy to announce it was all in tip-top shape 🙂 I noticed new puddle spots all the way around, I was sad that some trees had to be pushed over for the fence line, but the dip of their absence looks quite beautiful with a drop of moisture shimmering within. When I had completed the usual circuit I by-passed returning into the house-yard & wandered through to the dam. I think I may have been a little rain-drunk, I was hoping to see water in it, there wasn't any. I even went & stood in the very center of it's base, I think I was expecting to sink in mud - I didn't; but the cracks are gone . . . & they were huge. So if the Guru comes through with it's promise, there may yet be a puddle for my Staffy to play in 😉

I've decided to leave my camping trip to the beach for another week, rain wouldn't stop me - it rarely rains 24 hrs a day, but storms have - they often have devastingly strong winds that can break off & pick up reasonably heavy objects, that become dangerous ammunition. I've been emailing with the owners of this place, I'll still be in the off-peak season if I leave it another week - though I worry being so close to the Easter holiday, there's a more likely chance of more people. I keep telling myself I've just got to 'get over' that, that that would be all part of the experience - but I know I'm lying to myself. I picked this spot mainly because of the dog-friendly off-lead beach, but also because on the satelite view of Google maps I could see that there's no towns around it. It's one of the most isolated camping parks I've seen {that's within 5 hours of home, well - maybe just a little more}. It also admits it has old amenities, I saw negitive feedback about the place for those reasons - I think if you want to go to a resort . . . that's where you go - not to a place that describes itself as a rustic, old fashioned bush camping park 😉

Re: Exo's Exposé

Much the same for me @Sophia1 I have one corner of the garden that is already a little sanctuary (although still a work in progress) ...and Cat's corner will be more of a visual sanctuary. I have the image of it all put together in my head - just need some clear days (and energy) to get stuck into it. Will definitely keep you updated

Re: Exo's Exposé

Hello @Sophia1

Thank you for looking

I haven't been doing much work around the property lately, I've had a new
interest. It seems the Spring cleaning bug has gotten me - very unusual for me!

I've cleared out the spare room {that was quite the task!} Part of that job was dismantling a set of metal tubular double bunk beds; I discovered I could re-construct them as 2 single beds, they had evenly shaped & sized rectangular bed ends . . . I used them as posts to hold up some shade cloth I have at the back of the house.

I'd tried a few times to hold it up with tent pegs & the likes, with no success, so it just draped from where I'd tied it up on some brackets on the roof to where I'd pegged it to the ground - sort of like a lean-to. Well, now it sits up on the upright beds, with a bit of top-hat {shaped metal strapping} in between them & I have like a shade cloth veranda roof out the back

It was a very handy, timely job; as, after I'd removed an ugly wide board, that had been put up under the bathroom window as a shelf, which required me to bend my head every time I sat on the porcelain throne & tidied up in there a bit; I started looking at the kitchen.

My kitchen sink has always leaked, from when it was first put in {not by me,
that ex was actually a husband}. Credit where it's due, he bought a second hand kitchen & made it fit . . . it did look good & I was thrilled to have a real kitchen. But after years of the sink leaking into the laminate covered chipboard - it was a crumbling mess!

As time went by the benches warped & the drain area of the sink would leak
water all over them & it would run off toward the back, affecting all of the
cupboards. Well, yesterday I demolished it. I'd already emptied all the draws & cupboards into a couple I'd cleared out & moved from the spare room.

My kitchen's now basically now at my back door & as I don't currently have a
sink, it's great to have some head room under the shade cloth out the back, as I wash up in a camp sink/basin on the outdoor table that's there I do have a plan to regain the convenience of a sink hooked up to the drain in my kitchen.

I have a camp sink stand & I found that a sink I took out of an old caravan {one I used to live in} fits it perfectly. Said sink is going to take some major cleaning though, it's had decades of mud wasps building intricate castles on, in & around it - I haven't gotten that far yet

I definitely feel a sense of reward and achievement. What I found under and
behind the kitchen cupboards was like something from a Steven Spielberg
movie , a swarm of nasties came out - I think I used an entire can of spray and then had to leave the area for a while, to give the scuttlers time to curl their toes up! Then I had to use a paint scrapper to remove what I think was White ant trails all over the walls, and an almost complete cover of - maybe it was chewed up chip-board but it looked like mud nest & compacted dirt on the
floors.

My reward is a much cleaner, brighter, airier home & that's a real achievement for someone who's had to battle themselves just to wash the dishes each day, in said leaky sink, for the past decade or more 🙂

Well, my goodness, this has turned into quite the blurb! My puppies & I are
doing well, I've just given the little fella & I our Spring hair-do's - the little
fella has a velvet head, feet, rump, back legs & tail; with a shaggy coated back & chest. The back of my head is also velvet but the hair on top is now long enough to put up in a top-knot

I'm glad your finding your garden and certain threads so grounding, the madness's of this World can so easily become a swirling void without something
to hold onto Your little puddy tat sounds like a real character How dare you tell him off Though of course Coventry must pause for dinner

Lots of love to you & all that need or want it

@Mazarita @Zoe7 @Shaz51 @outlander @Bunniekins

Re: Exo's Exposé

Oh @Exoplanet You sound just like me lol - start to clean and then decide to demolish or refurbish I am presently doing that in my garden. One of the trees has grown out too far and warped my deck so I have pulled out that part of the deck and am going to cut into the tree to fit it back together again. It won't hurt the tree (I don't think anything could destroy that particular tree lol). Then I will need to put in some stakes, concrete them in and replace the deck. I had to break a couple of decking boards to get them off so a trip to Bunnings in the next couple of days is a must 👍

I hope you and your fur babies are coping okay without an inside kitchen - but knowing you and your wonderful camping adventures I have no doubt you will cope okay.

Lovely to read what you have been up to Hon

Hello @Exoplanet

So very industrious and resourceful..

Outdoor kitchens are all the rage now..

Canopy over the bed...categorise that under glam camping 🏕

Sink outside..think of all of the house work that you are saving. ...that is a win

hose it down watering the garden at the same time..

Your place will be on one of those renovations programmes..

Might sell for millions..

an't wait to hear what inside will evolve into ..

an inside outdoor garden..

a huge creative art space..

Off to bed

Am worn out

Night all.. @Exoplanet @Bunniekins @Zoe7 @Shaz51 @Mazarita
