Exo's Exposé

Exo's Exposé

Looking for somewhere to hide in the Forum, no offense to anyone, I'm just kinda used to my own space - it feels safer to me. I often feel like I'm 'butting in' on other threads, I want to say something but it isn't 'in-line' with the current flow of conversation.

It rained here yesterday, dogs & cats weren't falling from the sky, but the grounds wet, there's puddles in my driveway & it's soooooooo sooooooo much cooler 😄 Guru Google even promises more!! After this weird wet stuff stopped dropping from above, I took the dogs for their walk, I do this almost every afternoon, but after a storm with close lightning strikes, my main purpose is to check the fence is still upright everywhere. I'm happy to announce it was all in tip-top shape 🙂 I noticed new puddle spots all the way around, I was sad that some trees had to be pushed over for the fence line, but the dip of their absence looks quite beautiful with a drop of moisture shimmering within. When I had completed the usual circuit I by-passed returning into the house-yard & wandered through to the dam. I think I may have been a little rain-drunk, I was hoping to see water in it, there wasn't any. I even went & stood in the very center of it's base, I think I was expecting to sink in mud - I didn't; but the cracks are gone . . . & they were huge. So if the Guru comes through with it's promise, there may yet be a puddle for my Staffy to play in 😉

I've decided to leave my camping trip to the beach for another week, rain wouldn't stop me - it rarely rains 24 hrs a day, but storms have - they often have devastingly strong winds that can break off & pick up reasonably heavy objects, that become dangerous ammunition. I've been emailing with the owners of this place, I'll still be in the off-peak season if I leave it another week - though I worry being so close to the Easter holiday, there's a more likely chance of more people. I keep telling myself I've just got to 'get over' that, that that would be all part of the experience - but I know I'm lying to myself. I picked this spot mainly because of the dog-friendly off-lead beach, but also because on the satelite view of Google maps I could see that there's no towns around it. It's one of the most isolated camping parks I've seen {that's within 5 hours of home, well - maybe just a little more}. It also admits it has old amenities, I saw negitive feedback about the place for those reasons - I think if you want to go to a resort . . . that's where you go - not to a place that describes itself as a rustic, old fashioned bush camping park 😉

Hello dear @Exoplanet

I am thrilled to bits when I read that you are continuing your off road adventures.

I am quite confident that your furry friends love every minute also even the leading up to.

This thread is so much like keeping a journal. I hope that you have copies for yourself. One day in time you might like to cast your eye over how much you have achieved and how extremely resourceful you are.

Reading about your adventures is testamount to so many who feel that they have nothing to look forward to.

Yes...You are an inspiration...💜

As for cars...vehicles...hmmmm...

A tricycle with two baskets for each of your loved ones....

An image of transport in some of the asian countries comes to mind.

Know that when you stop to rest and your mind might start to wander...that your many faithful friends on here are with you in heart.

Thank you so much for remembering me despite the fact that I have been absent for quite some time now.

Thank you also @Bunniekins @outlander @Shaz51 @eth

Will think about what to say...where to say it...when to write it....why....and so on...🐾💚💜

@Bunniekins

I got back last night about 7pm, much later than I expected - but that was because I didn't finish packing up until 2pm!! It didn't feel like I was taking forever to pack, I wonder whether I slept in? I decided not to stay another night because of the wind, it wasn't dangerous or anything - just really windy. The first night the Staffy couldn't settle as the tarps were flapping so much - he ended up sitting on my head at one stage, so I had to put him in the cage for the night. The second night I just put him straight into the cage, made sure it was all covered securely & we all slept a little better - but the wind came up again & during that day my new gazebo kept sort of being blown inside out. Nothing blew away or even blew over, but I didn't feel safe about it all. I had to put extra pegs & ropes on everything.

I'm exhausted, though I wonder if that's one of the things I like about it? Actually pushing myself to physically do stuff to the point of my body aching. I couldn't get on the net, though the owner had said Telstra would work & that's what I've got - maybe something to do with the weather.

It was a beautiful spot, with a stone walled running creek, green grass, fields of tiny yellow flowers, finches, wrens & kookaburras. I think it was warmer there than it is here!?! Odd!

The trip there & back went through some beautiful country, but it went through some very sad country as well. On the way there I went through sheep country, my goodness, dry isn't the word - parched, crispy, barren. I only saw a handful of sheep, my guess is the land simply can't support them at the moment; but I saw copious amounts of roos, mainly ended on the road .. . to the point of it being dangerous! Forget driving on the left hand side, just hope there's a big enough gap between the bodies to fit your car! I'm thinking because of the nature of the fences the roos were sort of stuck along the roadway. It was actually the fences I noticed first, very impressive, square mesh & high {I think they'd cost a fortune!}. On the way back I let the GPS pick the route, usually I'll put in town by town, the way I want to go, but I was so late leaving {I think your supposed to leave by 10am} I just put in home & followed it's directions, it took a slightly different route. I pulled in to the first place I could get fuel {I like to get that over & done with, I'm not good at going into places I don't know . . . & I didn't know any place where I went 😉 } I grabbed the fuel hose, put the nozzle in my fuel inlet & waited for the pump to reset - & I waited . . . & waited, eventually I put the fuel hose back on the bowser & went inside, I told the guy I was after fuel, he said it's an automatic set up now, I was to put my card in a white box on the side of the building, it would ask for a pump number & then I could get fuel. I put my card into this machine & it just said I had an invalid card, I don't know if maybe I put my card in wrong, but it flustered me & I decided to find another servo. So I pulled into another servo, grabbed the fuel hose & waited, this time a fella called out, 'we need you to pay for the fuel first, before you pump it', I told him I didn't know how much I needed to fill it, he decided to reset the pump & I was able to get fuel. I've seen bowsers with automatic card payment on them, but not several meters away from the pump & I've never heard of having to pay for the fuel before you pump it! It made me feel unsafe about that town, I just wanted to get out of it!

I went through a few sprinkles of rain there & a few on the way back, it actually made for a really beautiful sunset on the way back, falling rain on the horizon in all the shades of colours between yellow, pink & orange 🙂 But there wasn't a drop whilst I camped. It was a lovely spot, but like many camp spots I found there wasn't a lot of walking area. It was a cattle farm, angus beef actually, so there were fences; I also wouldn't take the dogs near the cows as they found them waaaaay to exciting & it was too embarrassing, & probably not allowed, to have them barking at them. There were a couple of cabins at this spot, at a more reasonable price than most & the owner told me they are dog friendly - it made a bit of a plan start forming in my head. I could stay at one of the cabins for a night & travel further down the country from there, it would mean not having to set up camp & pack it back up the next day.

I've missed you all heaps, I missed being able to connect with you while I was there, I think it might have been another reason for not staying another night.

@Exoplanet Now that is an adventure and right out of your comfort zone and you did so well :). Good on you Exoplanet I was wondering how it was all going for you. It was blistering cold here and wet so I am so glad that you missed it where you went. Do you have any photos although your descriptions of it will suffice :)xx

My Camp Kitchen View!

A natural wind break 🙂

Just down the path . . .

Where the creek divides.

Natural music

Fragile Ferns

Delicate Flowers

Fairy Beds

It was so green!

I had the place all to myself . . . that's just devine! It was a bit cool at night, but believe me when I say I pack for all possibilities! & we were as snug as bugs in rugs {we even resembled them in appearance during the night 🙂 } Even though the walks were a little limited & of course 'on lead', I do think the puppies enjoyed seeing, hearing. smelling, sensing all the different! I know I did 🙂

As always, it is soooooo good to be home. Camping refreshes the appreciation of all the comforts I've created in my little bubble 😉 We had the firebox blazing last night, didn't even need the fluffy dressing gown! The puppies {& myself} I don't think have moved a muscle as they've slept through the night! The staffies jumping beans have been put back in the bottle for a bit, though I saw the dirt spashing under his feet as he ran along the fenceline during our walk around property yesterday afternoon 🙂

I unpacked everything yesterday afternoon, so the car's a car again & I might take it into town & visit the library today, as I'm all out of dvd's.

The car didn't miss a beat, but the engine light is still on - I really think it just needs to be reset, I've put a bottle of injector cleaner through it . . . but I'm not a mechanic & it is the Engine light, so I will have to get it looked at. I hope they don't rip me off & I will mention that it's happened before & the car has performed perfectly on a 5 hour trip, there & back. But I'll need a couple of days {maybe a week} to recoup after the camp. Reckon if I'm going into the big smoke for the car, it might just be time for new glasses too; the ones I have, I have to tie onto my head because one of the arms have broken off & I've super glued them back on, so many times that they don't sit on my ears anymore! The amount of superglue & scratches on the lenses makes it quite difficult to see through at times!!

Well, that's enough of a rave from me today.

Love to all that need or want it
