Swamped in Paper!

Swamped in Paper!

Hello Everyone

I am new to ARAFMI and have only discovered such a great organisation only now on my journey which I guess has been my whole life however the last two years have turned life into "surviving". Diagnosed with Complex PTSD I won't go into details exactly but I had surpressed bad childhood memories which caught up with me later in life which intially was only anxiety and insomnia. Now I find myself in the thick of every possible thing associated with this condition. Its exhausting! My counselor diagnosed me with Textbook Complex PTSD although I had never even looked it up anywhere. Its fair to say I was living in denial.

After many years in sales and stressful jobs I find myself struggling just to get a basic list of to do written and completed (I have learnt that this is ok and not to be harsh on myself). I have been lucky enough to have had income protection up until May this year but with it ending I am trying to organise what to do. The reason I write on here is I have made my first contact and (its with great relief because they were amazing) regarding NDIS but the multitude of paperwork and ongoing organising for different forms and applications my monthly insurance ones, Disabiltiy Pension & NDIS is crazy and totally exhausting not to mention dealing with Financial Situations like Debts and Child Support.

I have heard that I can possibly access TPD through my supers is there anyone with experience in this as I am starting to really freak/stress/get overwhelmed by the thought of surving off DSP alone. I do not know where to start or if I have the energy but I have to.

Does that make sense? I am so tired of being tired and when I have energy I have to do these things and it doesn't leave any time for self care, food prep, groceries etc It just feels like one battle after the other.

@Soulman It's usually off the rocks, beaches or structures.

Re: Swamped in Paper!

hi @Soulman , your daughter sounds adorable. I'm sorry you don't get to see as much of her as you'd wish but glad you do get to see her regularly. My neices & nephews are quite a bit older, I can't imagine what I'd do with a three year old these days.

How is your weekend going?

I meant to write I've been unemployed for 7 years. So I sympathise with a tight budget, it does make things difficult & a bit depressing at times. I like going to gigs but the tckets are pretty expensive

@eudemonism I thought you loved fishing & the outdoors? sorry if I got things mixed up.

Re: Swamped in Paper!

@BryanaCamp i think i love the idea of fishing and camping more then anything. Alot of my time is spent packed up at home suffering from side effects.

Re: Swamped in Paper!

hi @eudemonism , not sure why you're getting notifications, tech is not my strong suit. How have you been going this week, what kind of side effects do you get?

I'm ok, feeling a little down about my unemployment but I wrote a job application today so that's something.

Hi @Soulman how are you? how's the paper work going? I sympathise, writing job applicaitons is unbelievably long-winded and tedious. I'm just waiting to see if I get any response. Have you seen your little daughter recently?

Re: Swamped in Paper!

Hi there,

Your story really resonated with me. I thought someone was writing my story to be honest. I also have diagnosed with Complex PTSD. Suffering from child hoood and adulthood trauma.

without going over everything, I am al at o in CSI. I applied for TPD in June last year. Even though I have been diagnosed and supported by GP and psychiatrist it doesn't mean nothing. The insurer is delaying and trying to find a way to deny my claim. It has actually exasperated my condition. It has been the worst experience of my life into of the condition I suffer from everyday. The sad thing is no one can do anything. I been passed around like pass the parcel. Been in hospital, seen 5 psychiatrists 3 psychologists. Still the insurer wants to delay.

Also the truth is none of these organisations do anything. Sane, beyondblue, Phoenix, MHCC OR ASIC. They all say sorry about what your going through but..... go to these people... I'm alone in this fight.

good luckwith it.

Thank you for reply.

I can honestly say with All my heart and Soul I hear you. Day to day and sometimes hour by hour is a struggle. Yes all those "professionals" hand balling you off doesn't help then the free organizations don't have the level needed to make a difference. I have found the Centre For Men Australia to be a good place to connect in with and are very good at sitting with you when needed. I wouldn't be here now at all breathing if it wasn't for them.

ARAFMI have now been added to my list.. Full of promises they never kept having repeated NDIS applications denied despite promises of helping .

Spartanr8 you are not alone we journey thus together.
