The Beer Garden

The Beer Garden

i encourage you all to join me for some casual drinking, social lubrication and light laughter right here in the beer garden.

Oh and before anyone gets up in arms about alcohol and its dangers the main beer on tap is VB or virtual beer

beer is the third most commonly consumed drink in the world behind water and tea

why not share the worlds joy with friends

@Former-Member, it would be no intrusion. 🙂 Just if you feel like it though. How's your day been?

Re: The Beer Garden

Well @Mazarita I thought it had been going well until a couple of hours ago. Then I suddenly started feeling panic and generally as you said 'wired' and then I thought rut roh.... but this has helped enormously. I'm now wishing I had found this when I was in a much darker place than generally I am now, it might have helped me get to shore sooner.

And how about you? Have you done anything special today and how are you dealing with your "wired" state?

Re: The Beer Garden

@Former-Member, awesome that the forum is helping. It's helped me in a lot in different ways too. Yes, as with you, being here is helping wind me down. Just to have something to focus on in the act of writing to someone else. Aside from that, I have taken a little pill to help get me out of that about-to-explode feeling. I only take them occasionally when I'm really overwired.

Re: The Beer Garden

@Former-Member, woops, you asked me about my day too. Saw a friend tonight. Before that had a day alone, ever-so-slowly getting some domestic tasks done. Did a bit of video editing for a little while (my main passion).

Re: The Beer Garden

oh you create videos @Mazarita, how interesting. Wish I knew how to edit and create them.. but I have enough on my plate really, at the moment anyhow. What type of videos? am I allowed to ask that?

Re: The Beer Garden

@Former-Member, yes, feel free to ask anything of me. The videos are short, experimental pieces that combine text, music, sometimes voice with still and moving images. Very much a small scale kind of practice, more like being an artist than a film-maker. I've been at this kind of thing for about 30 years and it still fascinates me. 🙂

I wonder what sort of things you have on your plate.

Re: The Beer Garden

@Mazaritacan you give an example of the content? Just to give me an idea of what type of content you creating? The theme or genre for instance?

me? Well primarily working on how to get out of my disaster, plus I am doing some study, writing or rather trying to, write a book, work on my concentration span trying to get it back to where it was before my trauma, just generally stuff like that.

Re: The Beer Garden

@Former-Member, writing a book, fantastic! Is it fiction or non-fiction or something in between? I've found that my creative stuff has been a real lifeline through my mental health issues over my whole life really. There's no theme across all the videos I make. I work with a different theme with each short piece of writing (these are very short videos of less than three minutes for the most part). I collaborate with others over the internet. I can't describe it much more specifically than that without possibly losing anonymity.

Re: The Beer Garden

That's fine @Mazarita it's frustrating but understandable. But the process alone sounds therapeutic in itself, especially the collaboration as well as the cathartic nature of the creativity process itself.

I write very much non fiction. My mind won't do non fiction. At the moment I'm trying to write my story about what gave me the PTSD I suffere from. It's been very start, restart, start, restart situation until the last few months. For the first time I'm pretty sure this one will actually get done because I think I'm about 2/3 of the way through it. As I open my russian dolls, so too does my ability to write more lucidly open. So very much those two are linked.

Once I have done that, I will go back to what I was working on before my disordered time.
