The Beer Garden

The Beer Garden

i encourage you all to join me for some casual drinking, social lubrication and light laughter right here in the beer garden.

Oh and before anyone gets up in arms about alcohol and its dangers the main beer on tap is VB or virtual beer

beer is the third most commonly consumed drink in the world behind water and tea

why not share the worlds joy with friends

Re: The Beer Garden

The concept that removing the quantitative nature of the subject was 'feminising' the subject. I object very strongly to the assertion and implication that women are not good at maths.

She she hasn't held back with her opinions in this. I think anytime anything is 'feminised' you are treading on dangerous territory. Have you seen the curriculum she is talking about? I thought it a strange time that this would happen now when girls are doing better at stem subjects than boys at the highest levels. It seems a bit strange to me. @Former-Member

Re: The Beer Garden

I know very very well, very well, the person who wrote the old curriculum. The changes were not done to encourage women into science. It was to increase science literacy. To encourage aspiring plumbers, lawyers, accountants, social workers etc to learn physics and be scientifically literate.

Unfortunately there are still significantly more males in STEM then women. Significantly more.

Re: The Beer Garden

Aha the plot thickens @Former-Member. Because it didn't make sense to me, girls are doing well at stem especially at school. It's harder for them at uni often because it is often male dominated in many areas. My son has never had a girl in his class at uni until he went overseas and there are about 35-40% girls in his class now (thus his first girlfriend 😝)

Re: The Beer Garden

A beer would be lovely. I've had a very emotional afternoon, but have family dinner plans tonight I can't back out of. Exhausted and looking forward to being back in bed. On the plus side I got another job application in today - wish me luck!
