A new start (kind of)

A new start (kind of)

Hi @Shaz51 @Zoe7 @outlander @TAB @Sam3 @utopia @Faith-and-Hope @Appleblossom @oceangirl @Sans911 @Snowie @Former-Member @soul @BryanaCamp @Former-Member @Bunniekins and whoever else is there in forumland

I have tagged some of you because we are speaking lots and some others haven't been around for long. If it's too much for you then that's okay I respect that. I won't take it personally.

I have decied to start up a new thread after my psychiatrist appointment today. Off to a new start.

Simply put, he made the point that I am pressuring myself to do stuff far more quickly than what I thought I could. When this approach fails, it feeds back into the loop that was there before (the "i am not good enough", "I have limited time", "I have wasted my life" etc).

He said it was good I didn't go to hospital and avoided ending up there. This doesn't help. What does help is changing the approach etc.

It was a good appointment. I see him again in the morning and then maybe someone else next week.

So it's not entirely hopeless or lost now.

He thought that pressuring myself to go and get this visa would be the wrong decision, given my state of panic yesterday and also this morning.

He said that I need to hold off on pressuring myself. By saying "okay now that I am in Australia for a bit longer, I need to go and find a job quickly" because this is simply unhelpful. It's the wrong attitude and will only feed back into those loops.

So am I feeling more settled? Yes. Do I know what is next? No. Does this bother me? No.

I see my psychologist tomorrow afternoon. I will get something from my psychiatrist in the morning about all of this I think, which he said he can send off as part of the extension on the visa (which lasts for 2 years anyway). It's just a case of extending the timeframe for when I can receive it.

This would effect my chances of working in defence, mi6 etc but these are already off the table for me given my history anyway. The same is the case for the military and police. It does seem like some things are cancelled out because of my MH, but maybe they are things I was never keen on anyways.

That's a side issue for now.

Going to the UK - still a goal. It's a case of how I get there and WHAT I do when I get there. We have established that rocking up with no job or place to live is too chaotic. Especially based on my experience and degree background and skills. But the UK is a goal. My Psychiatrist said "Poland is always there" so I think it might be worthwhile sending them an email asking if I could be either placed on next year's list OR alternatively get some of my money back given the circumstances. Again, not my concern for now.

My concern at the moment is explaining all this to dad. My Psych spoke to my mum today too so she is in the loop. I think he will understand, he wants what is best for me. It takes some adjustment and time. But this is life and how we live it.

THanks forumites. See you a bit later today

Edit: I heard today that one of my old tutees that i helped in 2017 is working and is at uni. Doing well and studying. I joked that we should meet up for coffee and then i can get a job at the same place lol. So today has had a silver lining. This was the student who nearly quit school. But I can only take as much credit for what they achieved. Most of it was them

Re: A new start (kind of)

It is good that you are getting work @MDT and the rate is good - every little bit helps

3 hours is a good time frame - not too much and you can do other things in your day when you finish. Catch up with you later today buddy

Re: A new start (kind of)

hi all

hope you have a good shift @MDT

hope you can have a restful day today @Zoe7 , you must have been so tired to fall asleep on the couch.

hang in there @TAB you're doing great

I spoke to my brother last night overseas in the psych ward. He sounded a lot better than the first time we spoke. He said the medication is working so that's great. He's actually on the same med I was on a while back & I found it good too.

My little cat is feeling entirely well and wants to go outside! But he's not allowed out until wed. I cancelled my social plans today as I didn't feel up to it. Oh well it saves money. Think I'll just walk to the shops to buy milk.

Re: A new start (kind of)

I have fallen asleep on the couch the last few nights @BryanaCamp but last night I stayed there - woke up about midnight and felt wide awake so it took a little time to get back to sleep. I need to stay awake today and then get an early night to be ready for work tomorrow. I have an early morning duty to cover the Principal and Assistant Principal who are either away or at an early meeting so I will need to get there earlier to do a couple of things I need to do for the day. I don't have any duties during the day so I can spend recess and lunch getting some other things done also for Tuesday.

It is so good you spoke to your brother, that he is on meds that seem to be working for him and he sounds better than last time you spoke to him. Hopefully this is a real turning point for him Hon and you can begin to worry less about him. It makes it hard when he is on the other side of the planet though and you can't talk to him more. Is he likely to come back home anytime soon?

Re: A new start (kind of)

you sound like you are under the pump @Zoe7 , a fair bit of time pressure. hope that headache has gone away.

Yeah, my sister is talking about bringing my brother here once he is well enough to leave hospital. I don't know if he'll be agreeable to that but I sure hope so.

Re: A new start (kind of)

Just feeling very head and body weary @BryanaCamp with too much to get done and little energy or motivation to do it - but it is what it is and I can only do what I can do. I have finished the washing up and picked up Toby's toys so that is something. I am going to get the washing off the line soon and then begin sorting out my school stuff.

I want to watch an AFLW game this afternoon then an NRL one later - both my teams are playing in each of those games so can do my school work while they are on. I was planning on putting some more rubbish on the trailer and taking it to the tip this weekend but I just have not had the energy. Maybe I can do a little of that after work this week - I seem to have a little energy straight after work before I crash each night but I am crashing earlier and earlier every day - a couple of times this week I have fallen asleep on the couch around 6pm and yet still feeling tired in the morning. I will push through though = one day at a time for now - and then just get to the next day.

It would be good for your brother to come home for ongoing support but when it comes down to it any decision needs to be his. We can provide the support, love and care as well as respect the decisions each one of us makes.

Re: A new start (kind of)

Still very stiff, it will take its time to get better, and only partially, but in the meantime I have to keep going' Yesterday I started swaying out of beat to the music but in beat to my own physical pain, so I simply found a chair and sat during the performance. It was not too disruptive as others moved at times for instruments and things. Then later I had a calm quite sit down for an hour in the breeze.

@MDT @Zoe7

Cheers ALL

The plan was to open the doors to let cars in to hand in the ballots etc but he changed his mind. Loser. Just wants to make it harder. Luckily the manager is a character and has a good sense of humour.

Internet and foxtel both out here. Due to storms lol. If the electricity goes out then I said we can play "ww2" and pretend with candles too.

Hope your afternoons are going well
