A new start (kind of)

A new start (kind of)

Hi @Shaz51 @Zoe7 @outlander @TAB @Sam3 @utopia @Faith-and-Hope @Appleblossom @oceangirl @Sans911 @Snowie @Former-Member @soul @BryanaCamp @Former-Member @Bunniekins and whoever else is there in forumland

I have tagged some of you because we are speaking lots and some others haven't been around for long. If it's too much for you then that's okay I respect that. I won't take it personally.

I have decied to start up a new thread after my psychiatrist appointment today. Off to a new start.

Simply put, he made the point that I am pressuring myself to do stuff far more quickly than what I thought I could. When this approach fails, it feeds back into the loop that was there before (the "i am not good enough", "I have limited time", "I have wasted my life" etc).

He said it was good I didn't go to hospital and avoided ending up there. This doesn't help. What does help is changing the approach etc.

It was a good appointment. I see him again in the morning and then maybe someone else next week.

So it's not entirely hopeless or lost now.

He thought that pressuring myself to go and get this visa would be the wrong decision, given my state of panic yesterday and also this morning.

He said that I need to hold off on pressuring myself. By saying "okay now that I am in Australia for a bit longer, I need to go and find a job quickly" because this is simply unhelpful. It's the wrong attitude and will only feed back into those loops.

So am I feeling more settled? Yes. Do I know what is next? No. Does this bother me? No.

I see my psychologist tomorrow afternoon. I will get something from my psychiatrist in the morning about all of this I think, which he said he can send off as part of the extension on the visa (which lasts for 2 years anyway). It's just a case of extending the timeframe for when I can receive it.

This would effect my chances of working in defence, mi6 etc but these are already off the table for me given my history anyway. The same is the case for the military and police. It does seem like some things are cancelled out because of my MH, but maybe they are things I was never keen on anyways.

That's a side issue for now.

Going to the UK - still a goal. It's a case of how I get there and WHAT I do when I get there. We have established that rocking up with no job or place to live is too chaotic. Especially based on my experience and degree background and skills. But the UK is a goal. My Psychiatrist said "Poland is always there" so I think it might be worthwhile sending them an email asking if I could be either placed on next year's list OR alternatively get some of my money back given the circumstances. Again, not my concern for now.

My concern at the moment is explaining all this to dad. My Psych spoke to my mum today too so she is in the loop. I think he will understand, he wants what is best for me. It takes some adjustment and time. But this is life and how we live it.

THanks forumites. See you a bit later today

Edit: I heard today that one of my old tutees that i helped in 2017 is working and is at uni. Doing well and studying. I joked that we should meet up for coffee and then i can get a job at the same place lol. So today has had a silver lining. This was the student who nearly quit school. But I can only take as much credit for what they achieved. Most of it was them

Howdy forumites
Yesterday was a bit if a screw up with work. Spent time doing something I shouldn't have. It's the nature of a bureaucracy I suppose. I felt like an idiot. Buy then I also take into account that management are a bit over the top with everything. Tend to over react etc. My managers boss also had a go at me because she didn't think I checked my emails often enough. All because I didn't reply to something she needed me to do. I didn it. And it was fine. I just didn't think I had to email to confirm everything.

One thing slightly out of lime and everyone loses it. Idk. It is what it is.

Idk. I just have to process what happened.

I managed to do the application when I got home so that was good. I think I managed myself well despite being under duress.

I posted on LinkedIn about my interrnship written piece. No one liked it but it has been viewed by 70 people. I sort of hate LinkedIn. It's just very much like Facebook for employers.

Well here we are today.

My plan is to watch olympics and look for jobs. And do some internship work too. Easy.

Now to get my coffee

Thanks for your support forumites

Just having a peaceful moment to myself here outside listening to the world come alive

So much chaos in this world. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there is too much chaos.

I'm beginning to understand the situation with work. There is a lot of chaos. Unnecessary chaos too. Made by bureaucracy and bureaucrats themselves. Then like any other workplace there is politics and then of course clashes of personality and work styles. A couple of weeks ago one colleague who has been around since the stone age said that everyone had to be more positive and that there was a sense of despondency. He was peeved at everyone. I didn't disagree with him. I even said in an email to him later when I needed his assistance with something that I appreciated him saying it. I mean it was easy for him being in the regions and not in lockdown. But I also think he was onto something. The despondency he was referring to was work related. Not so much lockdown.

Apparently my old workplace is now shut as there was a covid case. So they finally got their wish and it came through someone getting the virus. Pretty toxic mindset I think. That you want to have a day off is understandable, but that it would come at the cost of someone getting covid is rather telling of your attitude and approach to life. It makes me sad. That said, I do remember good people in that workplace and that gives me a sense of hope.

We, including myself, are only human after all.

I thank heavens I have a spine and that I know when things become too much, too stupid, too pointless and can apply rationality to a situation that demands it.
Driving yourself into a mess over things that don't need such commitment is also a bad move.

Everything I have done in my life so far has been voluntary. Nothing was thrust upon me and nothing was forced. The few things that were... well I've just absorbed it. Its grown on me and I guess I just have it.

Sometimes I think I'll be alone forever. It's only when I'm content with that prospect (which happens from time to time when things are utterly chaotic) that I am of the view that I will find someone who feels the same. Catch22 maybe.

Some people naturally gravitate towards chaos and they make it worse. For themselves and also others. I dunno what to make of this fact.

While I understand the importance of lockdown, I also think that it comes at a cost. So many things lost and opportunities dried up.
It has an affect on the social element of our species. There is after all a reason why we have solitary confinement as a form of punishment. A reason why jail exists as a place to keep people from having liberty and freedom.

I have had my first diage of the vaccine. Astra zeneica. I was so sick of the hesitancy and the way federal government handled the situation with vaccine rollout. All that good work done last year is in the toilet.

Covid cases continue to increase and we are still going with the lockdown

I'm so over it it's not even funny.

I guess the Olympics have been a pleasant distraction.
Seeing people achieving so much gives us hope.

I like to think I've been competing against myself. Been training. Been focusing. Now I see the fruits of that labour laid before me.

Into the last good fight I'll ever know

Live AND die on this day"

Re: A new start (kind of)

funny story @TAB

started reading it at school in year 10. They had us reading classics. For some reason they thought we were capable of reading at that level but we really weren't lol

Yeah Catch22 looks interesting. I think I'll understand it more now.
