Hi again,
We have established that phone communication is a great way to connect with potential employers.
Did you know that with phone communication, your tone of voice makes up 80% of the communication, words and language make up 17% and visual (background noises/ body language) makes up 3%.
So what can we take away from this?
As mentioned earlier, tone of voice is the most important thing in phone communication. When I first heard these statistics I was really surprised as I thought the words we used were more important (than 17%). Interestingly with a positive tone of voice, everything sounds better.
Let me give you an example... if I said "I am having a great day" but I said that in a down tone, the message received is NOT "I am having a good day". Alternatively, with a positive tone, the message received is "I am having a great day". Hope that makes sense, and gives you something you can bear in mind when you make those calls.
On that note, I wanted to say that it has been an absolute pleasure connecting with you all over the last few months. I am heading off on maternity leave (exciting and very new and different times ahead) so will be handing over to my lovely colleague Renstar, who will be taking over from next week. She is very much looking forward to connecting with you all.
I wish you all well, and thank you again for making my time here so enjoyable. I look forward to connecting with you sometime soon.
Best wishes,
Debstar 🙂
